I mean, this type of pipe had been around a long time. They have been proven reliable and long lasting if constructed well. Whether they help with anything other then weight is really the only question.

I've never smoked a pipe with a bamboo shank.I'll bet that makes a difference in the smoking quality, no?

If it does, I've not noticed it. It would probably take a bamboo shank of a couple of feet long to make a difference considering how quickly the smoke moves.

Just finished smoking Ken Byron Ventures Jim’s Special Flake 2023 in a 1984 black rusticated full bend Peterson Mark Twain military mount egg with a silver cap and tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem.

Shank’s round, stem’s a saddle, so it’d be a Lovat. I think the only question is if bent stems are even allowed in the Canadian family.
