Which do you think would impress a fellow Redcoat the most; smoking a clay pipe of baccy the fastest or the slowest?
I don't speed smoke my clay pipes at re-enactments

Finished my packet of Condor Ready Rubbed now - it went down well!
I've already used the full lighter I found today; and I got a free packet of Sterling Blue cigarettes with only 2 missing!

@Birddog66 I made my clay pipe of Condor Ready Rubbed last 47 minutes (with relighting) in the churchyard today; thanks @Ettrick puffer for advice on packing the bowl!
Found a working lighter and a packet of Sterling Blue cigarettes with only 2 missing while out today!
Yup found Carter Hall right in the beginning years ago, and just always kinda stuck with it. Buy what you like and your never disappointed.

A re-enactor I met gave me a packet of Captain Black Cherry ? he'd brought back from America to smoke in my clay pipe; I'd never heard of it before.
Not a bad smoke but not my favourite; again it's not sold in the UK.
@condorlover1 bought me a few packets of Captain Black in America as he says it's cheap as anything over there, but I much prefer Gawith Hoggarth Cherry ? Vanilla in my clay pipes; I had a memorable smoke of it in my clay when I went to see Lace Wars at Cromford Mill in 2019.
When I went to the Georgian Weekend at Cromford Mill the blacksmith lit my clay pipe with an ember from his forge - a real living history demonstration!
Guess you could say the flake's "matured" somewhat as it's likely from WWII ? ? ?

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am half way through this bowl of Bjarne Flake De Luxe in a black sandblasted straight 1998 XXX Ashton Pebble Grain lovat with a black acrylic saddle stem.
Slower smoking, in some areas of the world they might not have had easy access or the funds to get more tobac so making it last and getting the most enjoyment from what they had was in my guess the way they thought.
