Sutliff Field and Stream Match in an MM/C&D straight nose warmer with a tomato red stem. This is a thoroughly pleasant mild blend when you want something that is never overbearing nor edgy. It's just right in a cob. My wife and I just phoned my brother-in-law to wish him a happy birthday. With birthday's, I often play a harmonica accompaniment to Happy Birthday and leave the singing to my more musical wife. We gave him a military compass that I sort of fancied. He served a mandatory hitch with the Dutch army. His folks were part of the resistance in Holland and his dad served some time as a POW. After a certain age, most people like smaller gifts because life can get pretty cluttered, so the compass is that. Tomorrow he spends the afternoon with his two granddaughters, twins, who are just beginning to talk and are a dual ball of energy. It's their birthday too!

A NOS Briar Lee - A Lee second. It is an awful smoke. This notion that a Briar Lee smokes as well as a Lee is poppycock. We’ll see if it get better, but the breaking in process is painful. It is a nice little billiard but man o man is it a hot burning oven. @Briar Lee , I am doubting you on this one.

An early nightcap in preparation for an early tee time tomorrow. Trying my best to get some color on this Nate King meerschaum pencil-shank prince with a delicious bowl of JFG's Plum Cake Mixture:
