Just ordered The Demon Haunted World by Carl Sagan to reread (I got it from the library the first time)
Yes on the Prisoner - No on Sagan - albeit brilliant I found him a bit heavy on his colorless view of the world(political, social - something seemed off about him?) - a bit bland - did you find him interesting in interviews?

I’ve been reading the Stephen Attebrook series by Jason Vail. Pretty well done historical mysteries set in 13th century England, following the exploits of a former knight turned county coroner. Currently on book 7, “The Bear Wagon.”

Currently reading John Gierach's new book Dumb Luck and the Kindness of Strangers. Always find myself reading him in the Winter. Helps scratch that fishing itch when the cold winds blow.

I’ve never found him bland or colorless. Quite the opposite

I don't have much time to read, so I am slowly working my way through The Backwoods of Canada by Catharine Parr Traill.

I love history and this book is very interesting. Here is the description of it:

"The Backwoods of Canada is a collection of personal letters written by Catherine Parr Traill and published in 1836. The book was intended to equip other women immigrants with a realistic view of what life was like on the wilderness frontier of Canada. Great book for helping us to understand what it was really like on the frontier and what skills were needed."

Loved John D.Macdonalds Travis McGee series back in the 70's,even named my dog McGee,great dog, long gone. I tried to reread them this year but found them so dated I couldn't finish, still great memories of The Busted Flush and Boodles Gin on the rocks!

Recently finished:

Revelation by C.J. Sanson, a murder mystery set in 1543, Tudor times; quite interesting

Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, apocalypse brought on by a viral pandemic; highly recommended

and The Wicked Day by Mary Stewart, a King Arthur tale.

I've had this in my pile for a very long time. A few years before i was born, my grandfather worked as a freelance motivational speaker. He published a book that we would sell or give away at seminars. I remember when I was growing up he had tons of these around his office.

Years after he passed we were moving my grandmother into a nursing home I came across a copy. I think now is the time to read it.

It's going to be like hearing my grandfather speak to me, I'm looking forward to it.
