Show Us Your Knife (And Pipe)

This knife began life as a railroad spike in central Texas, where my friend Lynden turned it into this custom beast. My instructions to him were a single sided blade 1/4" under legal length with a stacked leather handle and a decent skull cracking pummel.

The pipe is a BriarWorks Poker assembled by Pete himself during my in person visit 5-ish years ago. About to be loaded with a yet undetermined burley blend.

The CuBrTi PM2 is still riding in my pocket. It's been years since I owned a Spyderco- I had forgotten how big the PM2 ran. I really think it's the king of contemporary folders. Affordable, endless customization options, and a wide array of blade steels.

I've wanted a knife made by Ban Tang since I first saw his stuff- almost 12 years ago. Finally made my cutting dreams come true.
A cord wrapped SAF in 3V. Ban's signature "stupid sharp" convex/zero grind is no joke. No BS, the sharpest, most refined knife out of the box I've ever encountered. Perfect size for IWB carry, though I prefer outside the waist.

Now, I'm of the opinion that kydex sheaths fall in to two categories. Ok/good enough & Fantastic.
Unfortunately the included sheath is just ok. It works.. retention is perfectly fine and the sizes/shape is no frills. I added an Ulticlip XL for belt carry.
It just doesn't have that "pop" that you like to hear when sheathing into kydex.

I actually prefer leather when it's possible, and a wet molded leather sheath offers similar retention to kydex. I'm looking in to having one made for it. For now though, I'm happy!

A slipjoint from Great Eastern Cutlery. The scales are wine colored Micarta, they came out too dark in the pic. I think this pattern is called a Cuban, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Man, GEC are a whole thing aren't they? Some of them can get PRICEY.
I'm not HUGE on traditionals, but if I found a GEC I liked I'd probably pick it up.

That pipe deserved something special, so I dipped in to my dwindling stash of Pelican. After I finish this tin I only have two more left.

D2 was a legit acceptable steal for a long time. Anymore though, almost feels like it's gone the way of 440C.
Perfectly fine with the right heat treat, but there are so many better options these days.

I'm not so sure. I think on low end knives people perceive it as better than the typical budget steels. With a very good heat treat it seems to punch above its weight.

VG-10 comes to mind. What other steels do you prefer in the low/mid range ?
