Every one a gem...... I have tried using random hardwoods left over from pen making. I still have trouble connecting the pieces and of course boring the stem.... I need to get a longer bit, drilling from both ends doesn't always work... but you gentlemen have inspired me to get back to work..... maybe down the road I'll make one as nice as these...

bentmike, I haven't been a nosewarmer fan, but you just made me one. A very nice design and execution! The inside bevel on the bowl is the finishing touch.
astrange1, very good! Looks like the wood led you in interesting and beautiful directions. Adventurous stem work and...very good photos. Looks like that's what you do for a vocation?

I'm not a pipe maker or even close to some one who knows about the art but I'm a designer and I love to create little items from ideas that come to me in moments of Illumination!
So here is a truly reborn pipe… While going back and forward on Ebay I found this poor little guy and as with a puppy at the pet store I was unable to avoid bidding and taking it home.

After cleaning and thinking on how and what to do with it I decided to create a pipe of pipe!
So… This is how it end up looking, did it smokes good? yes, yes it do (at least for me have the 3 basic requirements: Dry cool smoke, Looks and Functionality).

Those are some good looking pipes for sure. In a week or two I'll finally be joining the ranks of self-made pipe smoker. Blank & stem have been ordered & just awaiting delivery along with an idea of what I want to try and make. :?:
