Having just joined this forum, I came across this thread featuring homemade pipes. Love seeing all the wonderful designs, and the expert skills on display. Real eye-candy, and very inspiring.
Question:

Where can one buy the special logo stamps? You pipe-makers all stamp your work with either a name, or logo....where do you get these stamps....and are they expensive? I'm guessing that you submit artwork, and a stamp is cut to your specs.
Just asking,

Frank

Yes, nice work for sure. It is a shame that so many pics are missing. I really like the mulberry pipe on the first page. I have a dead mulberry tree available, must cut some limbs off of it.

Made by one of my best friends (Ed James) and a tremendously talented pipe maker who we sadly lost recently under very tragic circumstances!

I read about that. Still can't believe that such things happen. Sad.
I really like your pipes too. The aluminum one is something I want to make some day. The wooden one with the threads is amazing. How did you thread the bowl and base? On a lathe?

Indeed, I've never been more shocked! He was a good man and didn't deserve to go that way!!!

OK, I'll play.
Made 39 years ago this month. I've made exactly two pipes in my life, this is the first one.
Dated design, but table sitters were all the rage at the time... (that's my story and I'm stickin' to it).
The wood is obviously one-in-a-million, but no credit to me. The ancient guy who gave me the block asked only that I show him what resulted as payment.
The stem was transplanted from a Ben Wade I already owned. I couldn't have cut a stem back then if my life depended on it.
Hasn't been smoked in decades, as the built-up oxidation and dust clearly shows. (I just now pulled it off the shelf and snapped a pic without even wiping it off.)
And yes, I keep intending to make a proper new stem for it.

A bit dark, but here is a test video I did with a new phone four years ago playing with a belt sander making the third pipe in the photos above.

chasingembers those are beautiful pipes! My favorite is that third one for sure. Did you turn the stem yourself? Very nice. You have some amazing talent my friend, keep at it!

That I did. Found that rod stock at Pipemakers Emporium back in 2013. An unusual swirl acrylic with a slight metallic sheen. Did most of the stem work with a drill press, files, and calipers, then finished the shaping on a belt sander. Really need to break down and get a lathe.
