That pipe is AWESOME! I thought I had my Kaywoodie buying pretty much satiated, but now a 92B is going to be something I need to get…

This FlameGrain Meer 09B came to me on a $10 eBay win in a little worse condition but with the same stuck stinger situation.
I fashioned a “heat shield/sink” to protect the shank and applied the tenon fixture directly to the heating element of electric stove and was able to get it apart without harm.

Awesome pipe. I have heard quite a few people's methods to get it free and they are all different... for the moment, I am setting it aside so I don't mess anything up 🤣

Several years ago at my first pipe show (Kansas City) I was gifted this Kaywoodie Matched Grian cased pair by Tony Solderman. They were in a pretty sad state at the time, the Liverpool had been shortened at the shank to remove a crack and turned into a billiard and both pipes had been buffed to death. The vast majority of the stamping was gone. I tucked them away in a drawer as I had neither the skill or inclination to repair them properly at that time. A few days ago I was digging through that very same drawer and came upon them, I thought I could probably straighten these out now.

So I whipped up a new stem for the former Liverpool now billiard, and cleaned up the 14 a little as well. I think the 14 might be getting a new black acrylic stem sometime in the very near future though.

Very nice work! Did you make the clover insert or find a donor?

I have been unexpectedly reunited with this Kaywoodie oversized meerschaum bulldog. 6.5" long x 2.25" tall. After receiving it, I compared it to my archive pics, same scratches and other marks. Still clean as a whistle. Looks like nobody smoked it since I sold it. I liked smoking it and will do so again.

Interesting little mid thirties (I believe) Kaywoodie 8751S I recently came into.
“Interesting” in that:
Four digit shape number should be mid thirties or earlier, elongated clover (not encircled) should be mid thirties or earlier, 87 should be a black drinkless fitment but this is a push stem with no fitment, “Imported Briar” should be after ‘36, 51S shape should be ‘37-70.

All that said, it’s a great compact, hardly smoked short (just over 5”) billiard that smokes really well and fits great in my little collection of WWII era and earlier Kaywoodies.

The very early Drinkless pipes had the condenser pressed into a push stem. Like late 1920s. Maybe it’s one of later ones of those with the condenser pulled out.
I don’t think the shape number dates available are very accurate.
Nice pipe!

The fun part I’ve found with Kaywoodies is that the firmest rule regarding dating Kaywoodies is that there is hardly any firm rules about dating Kaywoodies.
The “87” prefix not matching the stummel or stem is pretty cool, all in all I just think it’s a late thirties to mid forties hodgepodge of parts-maybe even a mid war throw-together.

Looking closer at the left side stamp, it should read: Drinkless Kaywoodie. 8751S Imported Briar would be on the other side. Here’s some examples of early stamps.

I know what/where they should be, that’s the interesting part.
As seen in my pic, the obverse is Kaywoodie over Imported Briar, and the reverse just has 8751S all by its lonesome. Stem is just an elongated white clover in top.
And the airway internally is baby butt smooth, no evidence of a removed pressed in stinger.

It’s a mystery wrapped in an enigma. The pipe was started and model number stamped in 1930. A stem was fitted in 1943. Final Kaywoodie Imported Briar stamped in 1970.
