That pipe is AWESOME! I thought I had my Kaywoodie buying pretty much satiated, but now a 92B is going to be something I need to get…

This FlameGrain Meer 09B came to me on a $10 eBay win in a little worse condition but with the same stuck stinger situation.
I fashioned a “heat shield/sink” to protect the shank and applied the tenon fixture directly to the heating element of electric stove and was able to get it apart without harm.

Awesome pipe. I have heard quite a few people's methods to get it free and they are all different... for the moment, I am setting it aside so I don't mess anything up 🤣

Several years ago at my first pipe show (Kansas City) I was gifted this Kaywoodie Matched Grian cased pair by Tony Solderman. They were in a pretty sad state at the time, the Liverpool had been shortened at the shank to remove a crack and turned into a billiard and both pipes had been buffed to death. The vast majority of the stamping was gone. I tucked them away in a drawer as I had neither the skill or inclination to repair them properly at that time. A few days ago I was digging through that very same drawer and came upon them, I thought I could probably straighten these out now.

So I whipped up a new stem for the former Liverpool now billiard, and cleaned up the 14 a little as well. I think the 14 might be getting a new black acrylic stem sometime in the very near future though.

Very nice work! Did you make the clover insert or find a donor?
