Perique Lovers: What Are Your Favorite Blends?

I love the stuff. Always have. It can add figgy and/or plummy notes, peppery spice, a horseradish/hot mustard twinge in the nose, and/or add a nicotine wallop to blends. A truly acrobatic condiment. So, which blends do you think showcase Perique best?

For me, hands down, it's Haddo's Delight.

I'm not the paranoid type, but I've made an exception for this blend. I don't know if life would have that same sparkle without it in this world.

If you like a bit of Dark Fired in your VaPer, it’s wonderful. A similar but far less complex blend is Viprati, which is easy to get.

I guess I should throw mine in: C&D Bayou Night, C&D Bayou Morning Flake, all the D&R Rimboches, and GLP Haddo’s Delight.

Viprati is great. I have 10 tins stashed and would not mind grabbing a few more.

St James, Viprati, Solani 633, Escudo, Old Gowrie and Hal O’ The Wynd.

Haddos is a love it or hate it. I hate it. I’ve used a similar description before but I’ll try to recreate it.

Haddos tastes like a moldy bath towel drenched in Hawaiian Tropic that’s wiped ass cracks.

Funny you started this thread. I just bought some more blending perique to sprinkle in with all the open tins/jars that I can't bring myself to finish.

I also love perique, and added to any blend in the right amount, always makes from a little to a large improvement. I like mine plummy, dark, earthy, and funky.

I don't think I like Perique strong/forward blends but still too new at this to know for sure. But some really enjoyable to me are Old Gowrie and HU Louisiana Broken. I can't get enough of either. I found Director's Cut enjoyable, but a little rougher to my liking but who knows what a couple years will do to it. Peterson De Luxe Navy Rolls is about perfect, but I assume not a Perique showcase blend as it's on the sweeter side.

For me, while I enjoy Solani 633 &
De Luxe Navy Rolls, GLP Fillmore is my #1 VaPer - Not sure how Perique forward these blends are, but they have all become a regular part of my rotation.

When you pop a tin with mold, you're not supposed to smoke it! You return it to the vendor for a refund.

I will second the Haddo's Delight. I also enjoy Bayou Morning both the Flake and the mixture, especially with a few years on it. The C&D XX Flake Dark is quite the Perique bomb as well. If you haven't tried the Match Victoria blend, I highly recommend it... it's got loads of that glorious, funky Perique and it's very inexpensive. I say this a lot but I was very pleasantly surprised by this one and it's my favorite blends to press if ya got a noodle press. I enjoy a lot of the other ones mentioned in this thread already but these are the blends that come to mind when I think of a big Perique hit.

Besides all the good stuff named above, I really like the Ken Byron VAPers and Sutliff Match Victorian. The new Chacom#4 is also really tasty.
