Yeah, you need that hardwood plug if you ever consider giving it another go. I’ve heard of folks pushing a tamper right through the bottom of those ones that are just cob in the bottom.just corn, it was one of those cheap 3$ MM

You can also buy a 4 pack of filter adapters on SP for 1.99. I put adapters in all my cobs.I agree with all the above mentioned that MM Cobs are great smokers and well worth owning. When I first got one I didn’t know it came with a filter and I actually thought the cardboard was part of the pipe ? lol. So either grab a few replacement filters or just toss it so it doesn’t get nasty and ruin flavors for you.
So the filter is stuck, how do I get it out? I made the mistake of using the pipe cleaner before taking the filter out.
Somebody tell me what the mean by enchase, is it a phonetic spelling of the Chinese word for rubbish?Or go with “wood enchase” or “meerschaum enchase”
I smoke MM cobs most of the time and the Diplomat is my favorite also. You can't go wrong with any of the Missouri Meerschaum cobs...
Personally, I prefer their Diplomat series.
Great smokers
Until an hour ago I’d have recommended a cob, but I’m a new convert to pear wood.Hi folks! I'm new to this world. My question is very simple: should I go for a corn cob or a pear-wood as a beginner?
What are their advantages and disadvantages?
I really like the Canadian style, if there's a briar with a similar price to these I would buy it but I haven't found yet.
Pear that I'm considering:
No. 305 Vancouver Pear Wood Tobacco Pipe - https://mrbrog.com/products/mr-brog-canadian-tobacco-pipe-model-no-305-vancouver-pear-wood-roots-hand-made
Corn cob:
Country Gentleman Corn Cob Pipe - CornCobPipe.com - https://corncobpipe.com/product/country-gentleman-corn-cob-pipe/#reviews
In my experience cobs need less break in than most briars, but they do need some break in.Hmmm... Got my MM cob General, and so far not so good. Do these typically need a break-in? It tastes like I'm burning off something harsh from the bowl. Same deal whether with or without the filter. Please advise if I need to know something. Thanks, and best to all. My first cob.
That’s hilarious. I enjoy cob pipes but then, I look and dress like I smoke cob pipes per your analogy! Gotta dig ‘em!I would recommend a decent cob if you are okay with how they look.
To me, cob pipes are like sweat pants. I wear them when no one's around to see me wearing them.
