Is that as good as I’m hoping it is? I have two very well aged ones that I bought off a seller on this forum but I haven’t opened them yet. I love Dan tobacco, so I try to give it as much time as I can.

It’s very good! The prominent flavor I got was… wood? Not Latakia campfire wood, but more like… fresh cut lumber? There is a nice sweetness and just the faintest hint of pepper (Perique?). I’m not a big fan of Perique, but this is so faint it truly enhances the flavor without taking center stage. It’s a keeper.

I hate that H&H doesn’t date tins. This is either 2022 or 2023. First Snow, opened just a few days after our first snow here in upstate SC.

How is the Dan London blend 1000? I’ve considered buying some to age in the past. Also, how is the And So to Bed aged?

The last tins of the 1000 blend I had were from, I believe the late 90's which were good. I have to imagine by the smell, the tin I just opened will be as good. I haven't pulled from the tin to smoke for myself yet. Probably tomorrow morning I'll be getting to it. As for the And So To Be, I would be shocked it if was anything but good. I'll be pulling from that tin this week as well.

Shoot me a PM with your mailer and I'll get you a few bowls to see for yourself. ;-)

Another one from the cellar. Today I am getting to know Dobie’s Four Square Virginia from 2017. Tin note is, well, Virginia, lol! I’m not getting the fermented Virginia smell I expected.

This was my first light of Black House, but White Knight was one of my favorites. I had high hopes, and Russ nailed it again.

I've smoked all but two of the Mcclelland Grand Orientals- Black Sea Sokhoum and the Yenice Agonya.
I just received my order from (over two weeks ago) PipeStud. One tin of each.
I flipped a coin to decide which to open first.
2008 Black Sea it is!



I was excited for this because there is Sokhoum in one of my current favorites- Steamworks.
Popped the lid- woosh- and.. whoa..



Definitely dark- great- but my gawd it is ACRID.
Like, super intense smelling. If I had nose hairs, they'd have been singed!
To describe it I'd have to say- concentrated mulled wine, dark roasted nuts, and heavy fermentation.

I let it sit out for about 6 hours so it reached my desired moisture level. The aroma toned down too..
I'm going to pack a bowl on my lunch break today. Hoping the flavor isn't as intense as the first tin note!

Got in a small order yesterday and popped a couple C&D tins off my to-try list.
