It will do well in a jar. Will darken and ripen up. Come back in 10-12 months.

Opening a tin of SG Kendal Cream Flake. This is one I haven’t tried. In my search for a Lakeland to cellar, this is the 1st of the final three to try. Nice dark flakes. I smell wonderful Virginia and Burley with just a hint of something. Tonquin? I’m searching for a blend with a strong Lakeland essence. I’m not getting that from the tin note. We’ll see how it tastes…

Gosh, that looks beautiful. There’s a very tiny bit of Latakia in there, yeah? Would you say it still has an influence on the flavor?

And yes on the Lat, too. The influence is greatly diminished, but it is still there. To put that another way- I'm not so sure I could confidently identify lat if I blind-tasted this, whereas I definitely could @ fresh and up to (and maybe more than) 10 years old
beautiful presentation. Insanely sweet smell.Test running in a clay: like smoking cardboard. This is 100% due to the freshly opened tin Syndrome. Going to let it breathe before i try again.
Opened up a tin of Germain’s Plum Cake. I can see what people mean when they say it has a Lakeland like perfume taste to it. It definitely won’t be smoked everyday, but it’s still an interesting blend.
I had same experience. This blend had a lot of hype so I bought a tin. Found it uninteresting, rough on the palate and not to my taste. It needed either Perique, a topping, or both.
Have you ever smelled sweet osmanthus flowers? That’s the vibe I get from this one. I wouldn’t be surprised if osmanthus extract was the topping.
It’s hard to believe that in 5/7 years anything made by Sutliff/MB is going to be greeted on this thread with ooooooh’s and ahhhhhhhhhhhhh’s, that’s gunna smoke well, look at those crystals 
Here is a tin of St. James Flake from the recent batch at smokingpipes.com. I bought two tins to see if it’s a cellar-worthy blend. I’ve only had two bowls so far so it’s too early to say.
Dug through the cellar to separate out a good chunk to take to Florida on the next trip. In the process decided to pop a couple tins. Here's one...
