Finally popped the lid on my first GLP blend: Windjammer. Yeah, I'm still new to a lot of stuff. Excellent fruitcake/rum tin note, the classic crumbly slices, and a good, strong first smoke. Not sure how I'm gonna get this into a jar without having it fall to pieces!

In my almost 3 decades of piping, I've smoked very few aromatics....other than some light Danish blends like Va#1, Symphony, Golden Extra....
But recently I've been trying a few out.
Just popped a tin of Cult Blood Red Moon due to so many positive reviews.
I'm having my first bowl now. I will report after 1/2 a tin or so.

Son-in-law has been making life changes. He started smoking pipes early this year. So I hit him with a ton of tins and a few pipes a while back. They (him, daughter, both grand kids) came to Nevada this week and he brought me a handful of tins as a thank you. One of which I promptly opened today. I opened a tin of From Beyond. I had a tin already but had not opened it yet. Later tonight or tomorrow morning will be my first go round with this great smelling blend.

Popped a few new-to-me blends today. Keeping the smoking experience fresh and explorative.

One was Ellipsis Flake which @Auxsender has already shown here Friday, so i excluded that one.

Here's the other two...

C & D Dreams of Kadath, which i hesitantly picked up. Usually wary of toppings but thought what the heck. There are a few others that i've enjoyed, such as Freja and Loki, Mad Fiddler, Haddo's Delight, etc which have some topping that isn't too intrusive. Never know unless you give it a shot.

The other is 4th Generation Fathers Friends & Fire series, Viginia Oriental Flake, which sounds right up my alley. I have a Pierluigi fishtail that is eagerly awaiting a bowl full of this stuff.

Man I wish I could get better pics than these because these gorgeous flakes have more sugar growing on them than anything I’ve had the pleasure of smoking.they light up like a bike riders reflective clothing at night in a cars headlamps when I shine a flashlight on them. I got really lucky and recently found a few tins of well aged Englis/balkan blends. I got one tin of Magnum Opus, one tin of Black house both from 2017. And this from 2018. Made sure to do the decoding too to make sure and they all checked out and were extly as advertised. Figured I’d share some images. You can see the edge of the tin has some of that aged tobacco tar or what ever it is.

Oh yeah. I should say that I’m still only About 8 months into this awesome journey of getting to smoke delicious pipe tobacco. I don’t have anything aging in my cellar yet so this is a real treat for me. Also my first time smoking Sam Gawith Balkan flake. The reviews really had me exited to try it.

The sticker says 1 5 266 which translates to January 5th 2018. My Birthday is January 5th. Getting ready to smoke my first bowl of it now. 🙂🙂🍻

Balkan Flake is one of my absolute favorite blends, I'm almost surprised you're not seeing more visual crystals on those given the age.
