Well there goes my idea for the weekend. Was going to open my HH Latakia Flake. I’ll wait it out. How is it by the way?
It's definitely Lat-forward but not overpowering. After drying it for about 15 minutes, I did the fold and stuff method so the first few minutes of the smoke is pretty much Latakia; smokey and creamy with hints of MB's casing. Third way through the pipe the faint sweetness of Virginia becomes more noticeable. Then the melding of all the tobacco types in this blend starts to shine. Overall it's a light and sophisticated smoke with low nicotine hit. I really like it and will buy a pound.

Great! That’s succinct and informative! I think I’ll wait for the right calm day (if we ever get one again). I have a new unsmoked pipe waiting for this. A pipe maker at a show mentioned this was a frequent blend he smoked. Thanks!

No idea how old this is but I found it in a B&M on the back of a shelf for $5 per box and bought it. Tastes like PA with a very mild cherry topping that’s still lingering on. Think they quit making this circa 2015 so it’s at least that old.

That is a very good codger smoke. I emptied all my packs and jarred it. Still have a few packs and also about a quart.

My dad used to buy those boxes with the foil pouch back in the ‘60s and ‘70s. They were sold up here (Alaska) in department stores, either singly or in multiples of five wrapped in brown paper. We had tons in the basement. I started smoking a pipe in the ‘90s using the twenty year old packets that were still in our basement. They smoked great back then but now – with 50+ years on them they need rehydration for me to smoke them. That’s a cool find!

Ogden's Walnut Flake, renamed Original for EU nonsense, and made by Mac Baren. Will it escape the cut? I've stashed a couple more, in case. And detest the packaging, but there you go.

BingBong, I also remember Walnut in that unusual packaging, the thin plastic tray with the flimsy foil peel on top. I think I had it in South Africa 20+ years ago. It likely was not made by Mac Baren then, perhaps? I don’t remember much but it wasn’t appealing enough to buy a second pack. It tasted then kind of PG to me. Maybe I am confusing it with something else. Hope yours is a better experience!

Some say St Bruno without the rose geranium and I see what they mean. It has merits, quite mouth-watery. Only first bowl in my new Chacom, so there's time for it to go wrong. Also, it has a year of age on it, so fresh might be different.
