I think bonsai could be a fun hobby but I’ve never had one. I’m trying all the hu blends to see what I’ve been missing. This is one of the more complex blends I’ve tried, I can’t compare it to anything else. Definitely recommend.View attachment 367096
Sounds like a nice blend. Thanks for posting the picture of the label. I didn't know it was Tobias' blend

This may be of interest to some

I've been raising bonsai trees for about six or seven years, it's a very rewarding pastime. Not nearly as slowpaced as most believe, you'll pretty much be doing stuff with your trees year round. Nebari refers to visible roots

Neither, I get trees when they're still small and with bonsai work they stay small. When I first started I tried doing cuttings but I never had any luck, a few people in my bonsai club have had a lot of luck with seeds but I've never tried.
I have one bonsai, a ficus microcarpa, purchased three years ago, that I've managed to keep alive in an east-facing window with the aid of grow lamps. It needs some shaping and repotting but it grows so slowly indoors I have to be patient.

If I had outdoor space, I would grow more bonsais—and smoke cigars as well as pipes!IMG_8263.jpeg.

That's a very nice tree. Tropical species are pretty much the only ones suited for indoors. Funny story, at my club's annual auction one year there was a tree for bid that had a few branches severely burned because the owner was smoking a cigar while working on it. It looked like it was struck by lightening

Looks fantastic - I had a tin of this when I first started smoking, but in all honesty it was probably wasted on me at the time!
I liked it as much as the Cope's. The tobacco is rich and tangy. The fruitiness of the Perique has diminished a little. I suspect that this blend peaked at about 10 to 15 years, but it's still a fine smoke.
