We’re glad you’re here.
I suspect you have one of the more legendary cellars here.
I hope you want to do this more often.
I more than suspect that the "legendary cellar" is a lot more mundane than people think. It's pretty modest. I do know a couple of people with really legendary cellars, the likes of which I wish I had.

But the most important thing is that you enjoy what you have.

2016 Royal Yacht. Been holding on to this tin for a few years. Got it in a lot purchased from a forum member a while back. Been apprehensive about opening it because of its reputation. But like the kids say, you only YOLO once, or something View attachment 368575
So how do you like it compared to fresh? I had a tin of 2017 and to be honest I prefer it fresh. The topping had faded a little and thats what I love most about the Yacht.

I opened a can of 2019 HU makhuwa and compared to the fresh stuff we’ve got from Laudisi. Very different tobaccos indeed. The old stuff is darker probably from the age but the cuts are very different. There is much more perique in the older version and the tin note is different and amazing. It’s like godiva chocolate covered cherries and red wine. Really heady. I smoked a bowl and it’s very spicy compared to the new stuff which has no spice to my palette. The new stuff is very good and I love it but these aren’t the same.

Escudo from 2003, purchased from JR Cigars. I think I paid $25ish for a sleeve of 5 tins. Upon opening I was hit with the scent of rich, dark fruit, a slight vinegar tang, and a hint of the fermented soy sauce-like aroma I often find in well-aged VAs. Three coins, lightly rubbed out, went into a new-to-me Ashton XXX billiard that I've been nursing for well over an hour.

2017 Navy Flake. It’s really good. So far it’s beating my favorite Latakia/Virginia flake, Brebbie Latakia Flake no 9. The Virginia’s are way better than the new Gawith iteration. I’ve been very impressed with all the older Gawith blends I’ve smoked. You can see from the pictures that it has a high percentage of Reds.IMG_1390.jpeg

Before I open a tin I got a question. On Sutliff crumble cake does the number in the bottom represent the date it was tinned?
Meaning this (1223) mean it was tinned in December of 2023?
I have other tins that show 824 perhaps meaning September 2024?

I don't know for certain, but the tin of Cringle Flake 2023 I have shows 1123. That would make sense that it was tinned for the holidays in November.

My Sutliff pound bags’ labels are dated the same way.
