I hadn't bought any for several years. I didn't even know it was being packaged over here now .
Yep. Presumably why it's actually available consistently now too :)

Down- thread about 5 posts, Sykes himself confirms:

GH Louisiana Flake. Strong chocolate aroma (and appearance!), it's a Lakeland chocolate flake with perique. The sauce is front and centre, didn't find tobacco flavours as such, but the chocolate and perique combo is nice. Very smooth and smoky but... sauce. If you like that, it's for you - for me, cellared until it wears off a bit, if it ever does.

This evening I went through my cellar of unopened tins, exploring, reorganizing and labeling. I found some surprises buried in there, not the least of which were about a dozen tins of 2019 Sutliff Cringle Flake and a tin of 2015 Dunhill Three Year Matured Virginia. But, those are not the subject today.

I found two tins of 2019 Solani Aged Burley Flake, from before the blend was changed. Cracked one open just now and about to go enjoy a bowl of it. Strong tin notes of vinegar and fruit, a little cocoa. Aromas that I'm not used to smelling from burley blends. Really excited for this one.

I meant to post this here last week.

Just opened a 10 year old tin of Skiff Mixture. The tin note makes me envision an old wood paneled library with high backed leather chairs clustered around a fireplace.

After breathing for a few days the Orientals have become slightly more prominent. A very civilized smoke.
Me too! Today, 2012 and it looks just like that.

Cracked a 2024 tin of Robert McConnell Scottish Flake. My first time with this blend. Inside is what appears to be a couple of long flakes folded over on themselves. The lining paper was stained with tobacco goodness. A powerful tin note of dark fruit, raisins and... orange juice? Looking forward to trying this one out tonight.IMG_0483.jpegIMG_0484.jpegIMG_0485.jpeg

It’s pretty good. Reminds me of royal yacht without the flavoring.

I’ve been smoking through a tin of ABF from about the same time. It’s my first experience with the blend. I’m also getting the dried fruit and vinegar with mine. These aspects are surprisingly Virginia-like. Is this typical of the blend in your experience?
