I'm not sure what happened to my reply, but it doesn't appear (on my end) to be what I posted. I was simply mentioning that Viprati is one that I found delightful, etc.
I see nothing of that when I view my reply above??
Maybe that's part of the glitches that the site is occasionally experiencing - I've seen it similarly on other peoples replies and simply scratched my head....

Not technically a tin, but the noodle press is close enough. My probably laughable attempt to come close to Seattle Pipe Club’s Rum Vanilla, which I really like but only have one extra tin of.

Does pressing into a cake make a difference? I have no idea, but It’s fun

How was it? It’s gonna need a week to dry out

Is an Opinel No. 8 with a funky blue handle a worthy way to set $20 on fire? Obviously

Technical note: I had a piece of parchment paper between the tobacco and the die during the pressing
Report back on your findings.
I enjoy a good noodle pressed puck of RC-1

So, I had a post on here (as well as other places) a few months back trying to date an old tin of Half and Half.
Metal can, key on the bottom for opening.
From all of the responses I got it seems that this can of tobacco was made in the 1960s or so.
I was concerned because the red color was faded making me think maybe it had been stored in direct sunlight for a long period of time.
Well yesterday was the day I opened it.
The hiss that came out of this can when the seal broke was insane. It sounded like you unhooked an air hose from a compressor it was so loud.
As you can see in the pics, the tobacco looked absolutely perfect. No rust inside the can at all. Perfect moisture content. Smelled absolutely devine.
The taste? Didn't taste like much at all. You got a little of the topping, but not much tobacco flavor. I'm not sure what the ideal time is to let tobacco age, but it's south of 60 years. lol
It wasn't bad at all, just not much flavor.
Anyway, it was very cool to get to open such an old tin and even cooler that it was in perfect condition and we were able to smoke it.

I, along with my nephew did a video opening it and smoking some but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the link to it.
If a mod reads this, please let me know. If it doesn't break any rules, I'll link to it but I won't without getting a green light.

I found this in another thread about dating the tins. Looks like Feb 2024.

Naw, that's screwy. I have bags of Cabbie's with a 345 code and no Tardis. I've smoked loads of 339 and still have bags and tins from last year, pretty sure it was February 2024 that was made because they'd had a hiatus and it was like water in a desert for me last spring.

Unless... Mandela effect

Naw, your table jumps back 10 months in December 2019.

Good catch. That table is incorrect for sure. I think Dec 1, 1995 is the correct starting date based on what I read on Smokingpipes.

Got to be older than 2020 - didn't this end in 2017 or so? I had 5 tins, smoked one and put 4 aside. Some years later, I really got into it and there was no more... great while it lasted, though.
Back of the can in my post above says Feb 2020, are you sure you're not confusing with McClelland, maybe?
