I have been smoking only one pipe since last May. It is a used no name meer billiard and too add insult to injury is a 9mm filter pipe. Counting bowls is easy as keeping track of how many filters I have gone through. As of today I am at 240 (ish) bowls.
Cleaning is really all I have had to worry about. I give the bowl interior a scrape every so often to keep the cake down. Otherwise pipe cleaners and paper towel for the bowl. I occasionally give the pipe a hot water wash, more for the exterior.
The pipe has it’s share of dings, and the filter holder is a bit beaten up. Otherwise the pipe handles daily use very well.
Good luck and I’ll be following along.

Small update.

Things have been going really slowly lately. With moving into the new house, the crappy weather, and getting our place ready to host Thanksgiving, I haven't been able to smoke much.

But I'm at bowl 18 now. Here's the results.

Not much has changed color wise yet other than the rim, and it's got a little spot on the top of the Shank.

But boy does this pipe smoke great! I absolutely love it. And I have a 4 day weekend this week, so I'll be putting the miles on it for sure!

Damn, I’m late to the boat on this! That’s an awesome gift and Dave @weezell does seem like a swell fella for sure. Many pleasant smokes and I’m sure that way you smoked on the last Meerschaum you’ll have no problem putting some color on that SMS beauty. ?☕
Haha this is my first meer. That other one on here was someone else's. Lol

That's what I do - then wipe out with a paper towel every 5-6 smokes...
Yeah I was starting to think, that it would be easy to keep clean. The cake just wasn't happening. Well about two bowls ago, it's happening, and it's happening fast. It's wierd for once, trying NOT to build cake.....?

Beauty of a pipe! I'm interested in seeing how it colors as well. I wanted to drop this link in here for you as well, so that when you talk to your Granddad about his military experience, you have an opportunity to share it to history.

By June, that pipe will be dark brown!

Never noticed before how thin those walls are! It really is a stunning pipe.

Any updates on weight? I'm so curious to see how it gains weight vs more visually dark it is!

The walls are thin enough on this one I foresee a deep brown pretty quickly. I’ll guess end of January.
