On the subject of old tobacco, I finally had your Benson & Hedges after some very mild passive rehydration and it was jaw-dropping good. "Much obliged, pilgrim"Hot Dog! Just the one bid?
Some slick skills there, Pilgrim!?
I can confirm it's 2000. While not announced as any kind of limited edition, both 4103 and 5103 shell billiards with that wide silver band (decorated with oversized hallmarks including a stylized "commemorative" mark in the shape of a cross for the year 2000) were part of quite an extensive range of deluxe "millennium" products that Dunhill marketed at the turn of the new century. Over the years I've seen EBay listings for Dunhills with much the same silver band, but at least in theory, they ought to have normal letter date marks. From what I can make out from the pics it’s from 2000.
Glad to hear you liked it? Aged quite well I thought, almost like a vintage cheese.? Just in case you're interested, that Wills's Golden Bar was Clement Atlee's preferred tobacco (ex prime minister). On the subject of old tobacco, I finally had your Benson & Hedges after some very mild passive rehydration and it was jaw-dropping good. The Orlik "scoop" patent is a wonderfully grained apple.

I tried bidding on the Comoy's, but, the bidding jumped up more than I had entered in the last few seconds. I would've lost if my bid got in. I had a feeling it was going to go for close to 700 or more and should've trusted my instincts; I wasn't willing to go quite that high, but I doubt I'll see another Blue Riband Extraordinaire with such interesting grain anytime soon. There was an unsmoked, boxed Blue Riband that went for more than that awhile back, but, I wouldn't have smoked that.A nice Charatan Cup & Saucer did well.

This is a rare Comoy's - the 806 (which I think is always stamped Extraordinaire) - but this is also a Blue Riband grade.

The first pipe in my post was a Weingott. Weingott was a British pipe maker. I posted the Ropp as an aside.A reminder, this thread is only for British pipes.
I was tempted ot bid on the Barling, especially as it looked like it was either unsmoked or barely smoked, but passed, literally at the last minute, after close up examining the pictures and seeing some substantial surface damage on one side. Interesting pipe, nonetheless.there were some interesting pipes, at least for me

I appreciate the like @ssjones but what I was wondering is: why did you delete my post? The first pipe in my post was a Weingott. Weingott was a British pipe maker. I posted the Ropp as an aside.
Your reply referenced the now deleted Ropp post, so it didn't make sense.I appreciate the like @ssjones but what I was wondering is: why did you delete my post?
Perhaps you could have removed the Ropp portion and left in the Weingott (English) part. The post would have been less confusing then. Don't you think?Your reply referenced the now deleted Ropp post, so it didn't make sense.
Perhaps - but on the phone, editing is not as easy as with the laptop, so I choose the easiest route. The easiest solution is of course to not post the wrong pipe to this thread in the first place, then, no editing is required.Perhaps you could have removed the Ropp portion and left in the Weingott (English) part.
