Several bowls a day depending.
I'm not a clencher so I need both hands to smoke.

When I'm asked to do a days work or am busy I smoke less.
Lazy days behind my laptop I smoke more.

Before I found pipe smokers forums I really didn't have much of a clue and smoked the same pipe day in day out for several years.
A Peterson Sherlock Holmes which has a huge bowl.

Because tobacco is real expensive here [now around $125 for 50g] I was in the habit of 'topping up' my bowl until the baccy on the bottom, which acted like a filter, needed clearing out.

Remarkably, the Peterson stood up to the abuse and never turned sour.

Once I found computers, the internet and the pipe smoking community, puffing on a pipe became much more enjoyable.

Now I've got over forty pipes in my rotation. All good smokers [got no time for temperamental pipes]
Were I to start from scratch building a rotation today, I'd buy myself several MM cobs with the hardwood bit at the bottom of the bowl and maybe a few briars.

The fact is that an MM cob smokes just as good as an expensive briar. Price and name is no guarantee.
$125 / 50 g ??? I tried to look at your profile and see where you are before I asked but didn't see the answer, so where is it that it's so expensive?

I’m glad I’m in Spain and I spend less than $7/50gr for what I smoke
(HH Vintage Latakia, St Bruno, Amphora…), and less than $12/gr for some Petersons (Standard Mixture, Old Doublin), I feel like a lucky guy now!
If I had to spend much more I would probably try to grow my tobacco.

Along with more or less affordable prices on tobacco ,weather conditions and quality of life in general are the main reasons I may eventually start considering the possibility to relocate myself down there,,

You're very welcome to come, I'll be glad to have a new pipe smoking neighbour!
How are prices in Finland?
Regarding weather conditions: well, coming from Finland it will definitely make a great difference :ROFLMAO:
I come from the Italian Alps so I'm used to some snow and cold winters (something like -5/-10C)... here I can have lunch outside in winter wearing a t-shirt. On cloudy days it can get a bit cool but probably still warmer than a summer night in Finland.

As for the prices in general,in all probability, we are living in one of the most expensive countries in the whole EU, I'm aware Denmark is also expensive but wages are higher there same as in Norway

Never actually tracked it, but I'd estimate around 10 bowls a day during the week now that I work from home and about half that over the weekend.

Good evening guys! As a newbie I'm very enthusiastic about smoking and I try to smoke a bowl or two a day. I'm kind of anxious if I mistreat my pipe but I try to rest it as much as I can and I'm thinking of buying a second one in the near future. So my question is how much do you smoke? Do you smoke two different pipes a day?
I worry about some of these folks, 8 bowls PER DAY? More?! What? !!!!!!

Should be the same as number of cigars per-day, or full meals, or glasses of Macallan 18.

Consider that a full-bowl pipe smoke generally lasts 40-50 minutes unless you're using a Peterson House Pipe where it's 2 hours minimum. A small, tiny pipe might go 25-30 minutes.

Seriously, 1 bowl at 40-50 minutes is (or should be) more than plenty, or maybe 2 bowls maximum. I set my limit at 2 (though I've regretted 2), and generally 1 bowl per day.

Trying not to be judge-y but 8 bowls smacks of intense nicotine addiction or serious concern by my reckoning. Call 911 ASAP! That's like drinking 8 glasses of whisky a day. To each their own though. I suspect some have gained a tolerance, probably by eliminating the wife element out of the equation, aromatics or not be damned.

This seems impossible. 8-15 is constant waking hours
Not at all, I only sleep 3 hours per day and spend most of my day smoking a pipe.

and that pipe is wrecked as it should rest 7 days before re-lighting
Total marketing myth. I smoke the same pipe multiple times per day for weeks at a time before switching. I clean them after every smoke and even this pipe that I've owned for thirty years looks and smokes like a champ.

I own so many pipes I can’t count them all.

There are 62 Lee pipes displayed in my office but that doesn’t count all the rest stuffed in drawers or in my break room.

Then I have lots more at home, in my car and trucks, in my garage, and at my farm.

I love my pipes and smoke them every chance I get, at least an ounce or maybe more every day, in four to eight different pipes.

Most of my smoking is aromatics. But not a day goes by I don’t smoke English and Virginia blends, too.
And I’ve learned more here about pipes and tobacco in a couple of months than I could imagine.
