Yeah, guess I need to check OP dates but I aint very bright. Guess we are hurtful and insensitive.

I agree with you 100%This is essentially saying all risks are equal . But they demonstrateably are not. Most research shows as intake increases so does risk. If you smoke a couple of bowls a week your risk is very low. But smoke 10 or 14 per day as some do your risk is very high.
We are free to choose, thank goodness , but let's not pretend all risks are equal.
I've never weighed 156 pounds.I should weigh 156 pounds.
Lucky you ! its genetics and metabolism.I've never weighed 156 pounds.
I went the other way with it... I spent 20+ years as a powerlifter and strongman competitor and now at 50 I am feeling every moment of it (without regret).Agreed! I didn’t pursue Olympic level sports as a youngster because I was worried about a lifetime of wear and tear ruining my joints. At 64, I think it’s safe to try out for Olympic sprinting.
My grocery bill is ugly.Lucky you ! its genetics and metabolism.
Everyone's is now !My grocery bill is ugly.
Actually, if one was to graph your tobacco bill vs. your grocery bill, I suspect it would be going down as a percentage. My grocery bill is ugly.
Oddly enough, not much here has gone up. Pet supplies have gone up a dollar or two but groceries haven't gone up much.Everyone's is now !
I eat 6 to 9 full sized meals per day. I spend far less on tobacco. At a point where I never have to buy it again, so that expense isn't much of a concern now.Actually, if one was to graph your tobacco bill vs. your grocery bill, I suspect it would be going down as a percentage.
Clearly you have a high metabolism which can be good. I have to eat 4-6 small high protein meals a day to balance the diabetes which I inherited from 25% of my ancestry - a problem because another 50% were brewers, bakers and farmers who also passed on a love of certain high caloric foods ! But I am learning and had more than my share in youth so no complaining and I am getting to be a better and more creative cook. Groceries here (CT) are at least double if not triple on some items - not all do to supply chain issues !!Oddly enough, not much here has gone up. Pet supplies have gone up a dollar or two but groceries haven't gone up much.

This brings up a good question on oral hygiene. I'd like to know what the teeth and gums are like of those who have smoked frequently for years. I smoke twice a day currently.I worry at times as well..I recently took up the hobby and I am 57. I had cancer as a teen and then in my 20s. Chemo and radiation took it's toll on me and I still pay the price but I am still here. My biggest concern is losing my teeth and heart disease. I don't inhale (much) and I certainly ingest carcinogens but what killed my mom and sister was heart disease due to smoking nails/darts/heaters/cigs and I do worry a bit so I limit my intake to maybe 7 bowls a week. I'd smoke 7 bowls a day if I thought it would be OK. Also, everyone in my family who smoked cigs more than 10 years lost their teeth. I really mostly worry about that but I enjoy the hobby and all the friends I have made here so much that I think it's worth the risk. peace
I've been a tobacco user since age 12. Im now almost 30. Literally every dentist visit, my dentist is shocked at how good my teeth are. I've heard this is mostly due to genes - I'm not sure. But I am quite grateful for my teeth, as I've seen the effects of tobacco on others and feel very fortunate. This brings up a good question on oral hygiene. Dental hygiene on a job site is definitely sub par. Between fights, tobacco and drugs, the bar is pretty low. But even I've wondered that - Do some people just not do the bare minimum? Brush daily. I can't fathom how some get that bad. I don't go overboard. Like yourself, I brush daily and occasionally floss. That's it. And never had any work done or issues.Same here, tobacco user since 12 or 13. I also am nearly 30.. 32 to be exact. I've never had a tooth ache or had any dental work done, other than regular cleanings. I've smoked cigarettes and dipped constantly during this time. I've used floss maybe 5 times, and I don't even think I did it right.
KNOCK ON WOOD.
But you're in construction, so you know those boys on the jobsite are missing teeth all over the place.. I've often wondered if they just don't brush, or if its a genetics thing.
