Amber looks really good on a meerschaum.Generally speaking, I hate 'em too. Especially on meerschaums, which should always be amber. (Just my opinion, delicados. Exactly worth spit.)
My favourite though, are the deep ruby coloured stems that looks so good against the white.
Any amber, ruby, or shade in-between, look even better as a meerschaum starts to colour with use.
Certain coloured stems look really good on a briar pipe. [No, not pastel]
There was a pipe maker that sold a range of their pipes with two stems, one black the other coloured. [Sorry, can't recall the brand but think they were NOS from years ago. Saw them on Fleabay]
An excellent idea even for the spare stem alone.
