Whenever I custom order a pipe I always ask for a colored stem. I also like the Rock Ambera stems on my older Kaywoodies and the brindle stems on a number of my English pipes. Love the contrast.

Bruce Weaver called them pipeadelic. He was nuts for the puzzle work involving multi piece stems.

I can't imagine the process of getting those so closely fitting. He was a genius with that it appears.

I love some of the colored vulcanite that has come out in the past 15 years. Some of it works really well I think as we have seen with most of the pipes in this thread.

This Ashton from Jimmy Craig looks very cool with it.

With briar all I want is black. Cobs and meerschaums are the only exception, where red or orange could be acceptable.

I don't want green, blue, purple. That goes for stems or stains!

And the beauty of these stems is that you don’t have to buy them! Plenty of traditional stems out there where I’m fine with the inclusion of colored stuff even if most of it isn’t my cup of tea.
