What is with the resent green or even bright red stems, I think they are butt ugly, what’s next on the hype list, glow in the dark, sun activated blinking?

I'm ok with mine. love it actually.
It was in Elementary or maybe Kindergarten where I learnt not to "yuck other people's yum"...
I like the variety. It’s good to have choices. Life would be boring if everything was the same ?
I didn’t like Castello’s colored stems at first but now I’ll pay a premium price for them.
As a guy with more than 1 green stem pipe...we will just have to agree to disagree on this 1
I enjoy my different color stems. Black stems are fine, but gets boring sometimes.
Generally speaking, I hate 'em too. Especially on meerschaums, which should always be amber. (Just my opinion, delicados. Exactly worth spit.)
colored stems have been around for as long as people smoked pipes.
I like cobs, and with them, anything goes. I have a swirly orange long Forever stem on one, and another special edition with a tomato red stem. I still wince a little with blue stems, but I may get used to them. Cream, tortoise, and raspberry stems on briar look fine to me. I have plenty of pipes that stick to the most conservative colors, black and brown, but I find a long row of those a little grim smoked one after another. I understand the sentiment but like a little color in the herd.
I like colored stems even though I only have one. I might have two in the near future...I'm considering purchasing a Savinelli 2021 St. Nicholas.
There is a member here on the forum who had a pipe commissioned by Scottie Piersel. It was made in honor of a woman in his life with breast cancer (if my memory is correct) and it had a pink stem. It was a very nice looking pipe.

Instead of being hype, I see it as change in construction material. Vulcanite was the predominate used material for stems for the last century. As other plastics came into use, more color options came into existence. That said, variety is the spice of life.
Colored stems have been around since the 19th century, either in the form of amber, or later on, Redmanol stems. Dunhill had "bowling ball" stems. I like the use of colored stems as an accent, gives a pipe a more celebratory feel.

Damn, now I really want a glow in the dark stem.
To each their own but IMP seems to be going a little crazy with the pastels. The last time I shopped for a meer, there were several that would have made the short list for a buy but the stem color blew it. Catering to a broader crowd I suppose.
Same here. Even if the color is tolerable when white, imagining what the color combination would look like after it colors tends to make me wince, and I run away. (I'll use any excuse to not buy a pipe. Sign of maturity. In days of yore I'd use any excuse to buy one.)
