Some are OK, some are fugly. And some of the pipes they're attached to are fugly as hell too.

I've the orange stems on cobs. They're alright, for a cob.

My main issue with colour is that some draw too much attention, but in some instances, if done right they do make the pipe look more elegant.

Vulcanite can be found in quite a few colors.

Wow I never knew vulcanite came in any other color but black. Maybe my Jared Coles really does have a vulcanite stem, it’s red and black swirl so I thought it was acrylic lol.

Is there an easy way to tell what material a stem is made from?

Rub it with your thumb until it's warm. If it smells like hot rubber it's vulcanite.
