I tried some Tilbury yesterday. I got a very similar vibe from the Virginias, and the Burley was smooth and not at all harsh, but it was very mild for a VaBur imo.
Yes it is quite mild, I'm a nicotine lightweight however so it is kind of a godsend. It seems as if most of the quality VaBur's are quite rich in Vitamin N, whereas I can smoke Tilbury a couple of times a day without getting the spins! I can definitely see it lacking something for men of higher constitution.

Tilbury could be a great afternoon or all-day blend. I tried it after dinner and was hoping for more of a kick, but I can easily see how it'd be good a couple times a day. I'm glad I tried some. Thanks drezz. Now I just need to hunt down a tin
Speaking of VaBurs I enjoyed some University Flake for the first time in about 9 or 10 months. It's probably one of those after-dinner type blends, but not too overpowering. Back then, when I was a newb, Uni Flake hit me pretty hard, in a good way though.

It comes very moist in the tin, and I like to set it out for about 30-40 minutes, which also mellows the plum topping just a bit.
Finally, I tried some White Knight just a little bit ago. It's been on my list for a long time. I only smoked one bowl, but I really liked it. The lat and Orientals play well together. The aftertaste and smell really linger and it's a good thing. It's more up my alley than Blackhouse.

I'm almost at 6 months and still looking forward to being a part of this box pass :)

Now what are the rules about adding and taking from the samples?

Luckily Tilbury is a bit easier to obtain than some of the other esoterica offerings. I've seen it up on 4noggins a couple of times and it sticks around - unlike Penzance or Stonehaven that tend to stay up for only a couple of minutes.
Finally, I tried some White Knight ... It's more up my alley than Blackhouse.
That's interesting, I'm more of a Blackhouse fan than White Knight! I hope you find more to enjoy in the box! Unfortunately the Standard Tobacco Company of Pennsylvania samples are running on the low side if I remember correctily.

I believe the first post on this thread links to the rules from the original box pass though we have been playing a little fast and loose with the rules...

Warhorse is running pretty low. There's enough of the others to make it around, I think. Smyrna is the one I haven't tried yet and I'll be sure to give it a try soon.

I think it's the Orientals in White Knight that strike a cord with me, possibly the Macedonian. I seem to enjoy blends that are loaded with Oriental leaf and have less latakia.
GL Pease Navigator was pretty good. I found it to be a full bodied blend, more so than I expected, with a fair bit of strength from the Kentucky. The rum topping was undetectable to me.
The notes from Greg Pease on tobaccoreviews.com describe pretty much exactly what I thought of Navigator.

GL Pease Navigator Blew out my nasal passages. I am not sure I am up for dark fired Kentucky.

Last summer I bought a tin of Mac Baren Old Dark Fired , and it's hard for me to compare the two. IIRC they don't have much in common and I seem to recall less pepper like spice in ODF.
Fmgee, I haven't been buying or sampling much lately, but did just cave and order a big box of Skiff Mixture. Skiff is still one of my favorite blends. Did you ever purchase one of the boxes?

The box is on the move!

I added some Ashton- Artisans Blend and Solani White & Black.
Artisans Blend-
This full-bodied English mixture is carefully crafted for the experienced pipe smoker. Virginia and Turkish tobaccos harmonize with Syrian Latakia and a touch of Perique to create a taste that is resoundingly rich, spicy and satisfying.
White & Black-
A delicious flake with dark Virginia, black Cavendish and Syrian Latakia.
(Descriptions from tobaccoreviews.com)
Both have a little over a year age on them. I'm actually going to smoke my first bowlfull of the Solani now. Based on some reviews it sounds like it could be more like a Virginia with some Lat than a traditional English blend if that makes sense. I'm looking forward to finally trying it out.
I took many samples and a tamper.

Thanks for the heads up Stickfarmer. ETA is tomorrow, which is a decent turn around time.
I will be in the Calgary area for a rally race this weekend, so may not even get to open the box until later Sunday when I get home. Looking forward to all the great product and samples in the box.
**Wondering if there is an address list in the box?

I never received any information or address as to who the next lucky recipient will be after I am finished?

Haha that's ironic.
There is no address list in the box. I will email it to you later today when I'm home from work.
Oh and the participant order is in a post on the previous page.
The pass order will now be:

Got back from the rally race and retrieved "the box" intact. The contents have been released from its confines and are currently resting on my bar. I will start sampling tonight when I get home.

Found any winners Slownumbers? Or simply overwhelmed by choice? Either way I hope you are having a good time with the box.

Or simply overwhelmed by choice?

Overwhelmed may be a good word for how I feel right now, sadly it is not tobacco related.
Ten days ago, shortly after receiving the box pass, my body decided to give me a "time out" of sorts, by giving me the unique opportunity to experience Shingles. Anyone who has had Shingles before, will likely attest to the pain and discomfort it gives the receiver, 24/7. Hopefully I am almost over this painful experience and life will hopefully return to what used to be normal
That being said, I did not get much of an opportunity to delve into the box very far. fmgee, I apologize for the delay in getting the box out, but I will try to package it up tonight and get it in the mail to you tomorrow. Once done I will post the tracking number so that you can follow the box on it's travels to you.
Great tobaccos in the box, I will take a few samples and I will add a couple new tobaccos for others to enjoy.
Cheers!!

Slownumbers: Sorry to hear about the discomfort. If you are all good now take a few more days with the box or at least make sure to take samples. From what I hear the thing is a little overfull! Actually we might need to be aware of the possible Canada post strike as we don't want the box stuck in transit. It might be worth hanging onto it until early july to see what happens. Thoughts anyone?

Slownumbers, that sounds awfully crappy. I hope you are feeling better in short order.
Actually we might need to be aware of the possible Canada post strike
This is a good point, and something I haven't been paying any attention to.
Edit:
I found an article with some details. July 2nd is the potential strike date and tomorrow is the last day for guaranteed delivery before that time, but it'd have to be priority shipping.

Same here, and I have 2 parcels that will be stuck in limbo :(
I was listening to a radio interview with somebody involved with this on the way into work. It sounds like the two sides are far apart and a strike is very likely. It would probably be best to keep the box until it's all over IMO.

Hey guys, unfortunately I'm going to have to remove myself from the box pass. Mortonbriar, please send the box along to jkrug when the time comes. Looks like I am going to miss out on some good stuff too. Good luck keeping the box going!
