Any FPS gamers on here as old as I am? (63)
I've been playing, off and on, since the original Doom came out. I've played Doom, Quake, Halo, and COD.
I recently got back into it. Bought a gaming PC and I've been having a lot of fun. The problem is, with multiplayer I get my ass kicked all over the place. The App AimLab did a study and they found that after 40 the reflexes and coordination drop off drastically. And the older you get the worse it gets. I actually used to be pretty good with COD4 originally came out. I can't even get a game on the Remastered version on Steam. Nobody plays it anymore. Halo MCC I get my ass kicked bad every time. So I'm forced to play against Bots now just to have a fighting chance. My comment is... everyone gets older. Eventually all these young hotshots will get old too. There are no servers for us old folk who can't keep up anymore. Does anybody else see an opportunity here? Or am I wishfully thinking
Monty55 I feel your pain. I just turned 70 and my reflexes have gone to hell. I now only play FPS games in single player. I am tired of getting my ass kicked by players slightly older than my grand kids.

Keith, you're the only person I've talked to older than me that plays FPS games. Amazing. I thought I was all alone lol. So, you see my point? Everyone gets older, every year there will be more players our age with the same issues. Let me ask you this. If there was a server you could get on to play other people your age, would you be willing to pay a small monthly fee to get on it and play multiplayer with others over 60? Eventually there will be millions of us who want to play multiplayer over the age of 60. Seems like an opportunity for a small business. But I'm not a businessman, so I'm not sure. What games do you play??

I am just going to double down on that theory that most games would be better if you had a little cat guy to help you. Normally I hate the computer npc whose supposed to help you they usually get in the way or just annoy. But a little cat guy who brings his own raft by the way is just awesome. Oh and you can dress him up too.
Heh, I've been playing another older Capcom RPG, Dragon's Dogma, which has made me think I should start up Monster Hunter World again. I started to play it a few years ago, but lost interest or something. I remember the cat chef who prepares meals for you as being my favorite part of the game.

It seems that many other sports and competitive endeavors have "senior" divisions and the like, so I think that would be an excellent idea. And while demand may he a bit light right now, I suspect it has the potential to increase pretty dramatically over the next 15-20 years as those of us that grew up with games get into those age brackets as well.

Frankly, I wish there was more of an emphasis and culture around gaming for seniors in general. My understanding is that most studies suggest that gaming is good for people. There are some people I know who could probably benefit from the social, problem solving and motor skills/coordination aspects of games, but they are not open to it because they see gaming as being for kids and young people. There are gamers in all age groups, of course, but I can't really blame them for thinking that way when so much of the culture surrounding games is focused almost exclusively on younger demographics.

You have years on me, but you'll want to get these guys on your squad.

I had trouble going back to an old FPS/ThirdPS game (SOCOM1 Online revival servers) because the old control scheme that I used back in the day (Sure Shot) no longer makes sense, & what would probably be viewed as the more modern option (Precision Shooter) has some drawbacks which hobbled my sniping abilities. That's why I never used Precision Shooter back in the day, because 99.9% of the time I was sniping on SOCOM1 online. However, the one-player mode is do-able with the modern scheme & was a lot of fun to play through recently. Great ambiance in that game. Would recommend for the one-player missions.
Glad that I recently figured out how to get back onto BF3 Online, though. Another game with great ambiance, & BF3 controls make sense. SOCOM1 I used to need an hour to warm up on - even 20 years ago, due to the horrible control scheme that I used, in order to snipe better.
I definitely feel some age when playing BF3 online these days, but I'm still quick & I'm sure that I have more & better tactics. Although I still draw on a lot of what I did when playing SOCOM online originally.

I signed up for Zwift in December. Its an indoor training/racing/game program, that connects my bicycle fluid trainer to the game via blue-tooth sensors (speed & cadence). You earn points, can virtually ride with people you know, race in a group, club or team, or just solo. I didn't ride much on the trainer last year, just watching tv, it was boring. Now, I can stay entertained and get in a 20-30 mile ride.

My gravel bike is mounted to the trainer, so I get to ride the bike I'm used to outside. (seat/bars/dimensions same as outside)

I'm not much into the game, just getting in some miles and staying fit over the winter. Not my setup below, but you get the idea. I run the game thru my laptop and use HDMI plugged into a big screen in our basement rec room.

I was so excited for that one then it was announced to be multi player.?
Oh its fun and really addicting - Both playing as Predator and as a member of the Fire Team. I put over 1000 hours into that game last year. It was also fun making friends over at Illfonic's official forums after either getting killed or killed by them as the Predator LOL. The ingame mic chat makes things more enjoyable as well. Good times.

Anyone play “Hell Let Loose”? Multiplayer WW2 FPS but heavily based on teamwork and communication. I’ve noticed there is a decent “older crowd” that plays that game. It’s slower than CoD and similar games, but I’ve probably had some of my favorite multiplayer moments in that game.

for what it’s worth I’m not a huge multiplayer fps guy (have played and enjoyed some of the battlefields) but this one is unique and fun.

Every reason I was disappointed about it. Like my pipe smoking, solo is the way I go with gaming. Was so hoping it was an offline title where you got to play the Predator.

Unless I am playing with some friends on the fireteam, I keep my mic off. So when I play as the Predator it is a true 1 vs 4 experience. Its you solo vs four humans who have superior fire power. The only aid you get is your 2 med kit syringes and any boar you happen to arrow along the way. It's as close as I get to being a hunter.

Yep grew up on the NES in the early 90s, then a Genesis, a Saturn, a Dreamcast, a PS2, Xbox 360 and now a PS4. I also have a gaming laptop I do most of mine on now as my kids have basically housed my PS4. New systems are hard to lay hands on.
Huge nerd prefer rpg's the mass effect series was life changing (my son was named Shepard). The Witcher series was great and Witcher 3 I think is possibly the best game ever made.

Yeah I play currently finished up my first run through of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and I play the tabletop Pathfinder game on weekends
NES early 90s, then SNES then onward just PC. Agree on the Witcher 3. I have finished it 3 or 4 times, with DLCs and still pinch myself at times realising what amount of love and care went into it.
Today i bought Half Life Source, and requested a refund within an hour, totally destroyed what’s my favourite FPS.

I've always played FIFA and the Total War series, never the warhammer ones though. I play some World of Warships and Hell Let Loose with friends as well, and I've recently gotten into Farming Simulator. The only non-historical or simulator games I ever play are Elder Scrolls and Mount & Blade. I have a hard time playing those without binging though so it's occasional. Haven't played on a console in a few years now, probably won't go back.

I played the Witcher 3 years ago, and am patiently waiting for them to release their "Remastered" version of it so I can play it again!

I have been playing Halo infinite a ton and @karam remastered basically they enhance graphics and resolutions as well as sometimes make mild changes in game. Overall remastered games should always be half the cost of a normal game. I am a big Xbox guys with the gamepass basically the Netflix of gaming Microsoft has created also huge purchase today of activision and blizzard.
