I received mine today and it is not something I care for much. I will stick with other H&H blends that are much better IMO. I appreciate the sample from Russ though! :)

Got my sample yesterday, was a generous amount. My first few puffs were cool, almost minty, then it became what I think of as "red", like stoved Latakia, and it gave me a nic rush. Not really my cup of tea, but I never smoked the blend Russ was thinking of when he started this project. I used a clean briar, but I think I will give it a go in the Sherlock and see what difference it makes. Thanks Russ!!

No big deal Russ, I'm really looking forward to trying this, and don't mind the wait. I hope the high volume of sample requests turns into good sales for you guys!

Second go-round in a clay: much cooler, tasting more of a fruit and/or cinnamon flavor, much like a dry merlot. Getting a little spicy midway through. The briar that I used earlier didn't do it justice, and I don't notice any "red" this time. perhaps more of an evening blend? Last smoke I had was a burley, about two hours before, which doesn't seem to have influenced this bowl. Recommend a clean pallet when trying this one, or only smoking this blend all day. After the halfway point the spiciness went away, and the end is mild tobacco flavor. I liked it better this second time. Just my thoughts, of course.

I might give this a try again after it hits mainstream production. I'm thinking that the pipe started souring, which is why I didn't enjoy the blend at all.
Other than that, enjoy, Bob. I know I have plenty of other blends I need to put my attention to.

I smoked a couple bowls from what olderthandirt sent and I like it . My noob palate can not give nearly as detailed description as some others. I did find it a little bitter early in the smoke but then the cinnamon/spice came thru and the smoke mellowed nicely. A good Fall or as it is named Fishing blend.
