Daimyo,
"He who snoozes, loses".
=D
Also, as an anecdote: Billy Budd was one of the blends I loved when I had the box. I ordered 8 oz. It came in and I had a buddy over and we had some Irish Death Porter and smoked some Billy Budd.
Great night!

So awesome!
Hey, Dave, I want to thank you again for that Tim West Freehand Cav. That thing is so fun to smoke!
Have a great evening!

Ok, I've got the box all packed up. I took samples of various blends. There were a few that I picked that were running low so the samples of Astley's #109, Drew Estates Meat Pie, MM American Patriot, Dan Treasures of Ireland, Mac Baren Scottish Mixture, and McClelland Cyprian are gone, but I replaced what I took with a selection of flakes and some vintage tobaccos. My contributions are Escudo, 1950's era Revelation, Pembroke from 1999, MacBaren Vanilla Creme Flake, Solani aged Burley Flake, Fribourg and Treyers Vintage Flake, and also F&T Cut Virginia Plug, Dan's Patriot Flake, Wessex Brigaid Campaign Dark Flake, Nording Labrador, and a local house blend called Kate's which is a chocolatey aro. I'll be sure to take some pics of the meetup tonight.

That sounds like a samned fair trade to me, Dave. And thanks for not leaving nearly empty bags. Looking forward to a few pix of the meetup.
Onward!

I met up with Dave at the pipe club tonight in Hiram and we made the exchange. I think Dave has evidence of the occurrence. Happy Paddy's day to ya.

Yes the bxx has moved on. The box itself didn't make it into the picture but it is there lurking in the background. Here is a pic from last night. Deffargin on the left, me on the right, and another forum member politicalmonster in the middle.

Glad that the box is back in safe hands (duck and cover!).
Dave, thanks for the well thought out and generous contribution to The Box. It leaves you fat and happy.

So the saga continues for me. This is my second go around with the box, my first time was late last summer. I have to say, opening the box the second time, and recalling the same overwhelming reaction of "holy shit" that's a lot of pipe tobacco. Seeing all those little packets gleaming, it's like a box of treasure.
I did my initial run through of the box's contents, and separated out the stuff I want to try, vs the stuff that I've already had. Plus I wanted to get an indication of what was in the box, and what wasn't. I'm already got a few blends in mind that I'm planning on putting in that aren't represented.
My first bowl out of the box is Woodsroads's addition of Bald Headed Teacher. I don't think this one will be making it back in the box, as there's only enough for another bowl. I've been curious about this one, as LOTS of forum members enjoy it, and recommend it. Having recently been on an "American English" kick this one seemed fitting to kick off my box pass smoking. It's not a bad blend, although I was hoping for a bit more strength. The room note I seems rather nice, but I'm going to smoke the last of whats here and get the opinion from the wife.
I was going to post a photo of the box like most everyone has upon opening but, we've seen it many times before, and what I am going to do is lay out the stuff I'm going to try to sample during my time with the box, and photo that.
I can say what's on the short list is as follows:
Condor Plug (it's smaller than I thought it would be..yeah I know.."thats what she said."

St. Bruno

Watch City Slices, and Justice Mixture (been meaning to try some stuff from WC)

Cotton Bol (Will have the defibrillator on standby)

FM Cellar (I haven't really enjoyed the other two I've had (Bayou and Pond) but others go on about this one so we'll give it a go)
That's all for now, I'll check back in and let everyone know how things are progressing. :puffy:

Sorry gents, I haven't updated my findings recently. I have been puffing on bowls in between my work that I've been doing lately.
I've almost come on the 1 week mark with the box, and here's what I've had thus far as well as some comments:
C&D's - Opening Night: Not a bad VA flake, I know C&D is more known for their burleys but this one is decent. It had a good flavor at times but it seemed there was a fine line between it tasting good, and tasting ash-y. I did push it a bit to far on occasion, and my tongue felt it.
GLP - Robusto: Cigar-leaf blend that I was expecting a bit more from, as Key Largo grew on me the more I smoked it. I love C&D's - Billy Budd, but this one wasn't either. For the most part it tasted dirty to me, and not in a good way. It put me off enough that I really didn't want to try another bowl.
C&D's - Kajun Kake: Perique lovers dream, if anyone wants a bowl of good VA with Perique this one is up your alley. I enjoyed it, but this wouldn't be an everyday smoke for me, since I have to be in the mood Perique heavy blends.
Revelation blend from the 50's - This one was..well...good. Not great. I kept wishing I had some Epiphany to smoke while I puffed on this one. I was surprised at the fact the plum favor was still as prominent even for such an old blend. For me, I'm not sad this isn't available, was glad I got to compare though. Thanks to Shaintiques for sharing. I'm just sad I'm out of Epiphany.
Watch City Cigar - Americano: This one reminded me of a cross between Revelation, and Bald Headed Teacher. Wasn't blown away, but again..Just reminded me that I was out of Epiphany.
Watch City Cigar - Deluxe Crumb Cut: This one was ok, very similar to the Edgeworth RR that I've had. Not good enough to keep around.
McClelland - Yehnidje Highlander: This one was subtle but nice. Flavor started really getting better toward mid to late in the bowl. It's worth keeping a few tins of this to smoke on occasion.
There's where I am up to this point. Oddly enough I still haven't smoked any off the list I originally said I wanted to try earlier in the thread. I'll get to that this week and post my thoughts.
