    I Remember When..........

I remember when computers used to scream out in pain when we connected them to the internet. This was a warning, but we did not heed it.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

With Thanksgiving coming next week, I felt like opening something holidayish. 2022 Sutliff Cringle a flake will work nicely. Lots of sparkling crystals. But it sure made me nervous when I opened it. 2nd pic is with a flash.

A Little Humor for the Day 2025

^^. This is what I’ve been trying to explain to my wife and daughters for years.

***What Are You Smoking, October 2025?***

I really haven’t been smoking English blend lately, but got a craving for some Syrian Latakia. Smoking GL Pease Renaissance in this Radice twin-bore bulldog.

A Little Humor for the Day 2025

From a funny friend in Cuba, preparing for the hurricane.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

I opened a 4.5 year old mylar pouch of Wessex Curly Block today. The bag was puffed up - a good sign. It has been aging very well.

    Vapers? Hmm.. Yes!

    Houston Pipe Club

First Friday of the month! Another fun meeting tonight at the Houston Pipe Club. Good crowd tonight. I got to try the new Carolina Red Flake with Perique and the old Rimboche SJ. Also smoked HU Moroccan Bazaar - fascinating blend.

    Wet Shave

@Egg Shen, that razor is a Gillette that is generally referred to as a “old type”. If I’m reading the date code right, then it’s 1917. Add that its is nickel plated and has a ball-end handle, then it is likely a US Service set for the military. Link

    Red Virginia recommendations

Red VAs are my favorite leaf. One aspect not mentioned yet is spiciness. Good reds are spicy even without perique. Favorites include CRF, Cringle Flake, Sutliff 515 RC-1 and HU My Red Fox.

    Aging Perique long term

I also put away a bit of TS-20 perique to mix with 515RC-1 down the road. I use 2 oz perique with 1 lb of VA for 11% perique blend.

    Capstan Blue

I also recommend you try HU Janneman flake as a reasonable substitute for Capstan Blue. It is one of the HU blends that is sold in the US..
