    James Upshall Lovat Clean Up…

    Turned out beautiful

    Is it Safe?

Your cleaning routine is perfectly good. In addition, you might try to use heat as a means of decontamination. If there was only some way to ignite a combustible fuel source in the primary chamber and draw the heat through the air passageway, you would be safest. 😀

    Texas Floods

We appreciate you @SSGT. It’s been a sad week in Texas. Even those not directly impacted are grieving this.

All Things Come To An End

Congratulations! I am semi-retired and trying to go all in by end of year. My buddy explains retirement this way - every day is Saturday. I like that analogy. You may still have plenty to do, but you decide what and when it gets done. Even if that’s tomorrow or never.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2025?***

My Red Fox in a 1998 Ashton Dublin. My first smoke in this new-to-me pipe. The chamber is a bit narrow, so I expect it will be used for stronger VAs, esp flakes.

Tobacco Heritage Festival - Southern Wisconsin

That’s great. Real small town fun: “live music, multiple food trucks, cold beer, softball tournament, baseball games, lip sync contest & talent show, big wheel race, kids pedal pull tractors, tobacco axe throwing contest, pie eating contest, a parade, and more!”

    Show Us Your Ashton Pipes

I just bought this 1998 Ashton sandblast Dublin today on the auction site. It’s fairly tall at 2.13 in. I love the look of it.

Short Czech Tool - seeking Info

I’ve had a short Czech tool for years. I really like it better than the longer version. I can’t really say why. It has been a tool of great interest at our pipe club for years. I’ve offered to give it away. I’ve offered to sell it away. Everybody wants one, but can’t bring themselves to...

    Houston Pipe Club

Big fun last night at the Houston Pipe Club. The group is growing and we are going to have to take over more space at Stogies. We had a particularly good selection of rare tobaccos to sample, including UK Dunhill Durbar; McClellands Virginia Woods, Virginia 24, and Black Parrot; Stonehaven...

What Was Your First "I Gotta Buy 5 Pounds of This Stuff!" Tobacco?

My first major purchase was 3 Oaks Syrian. I am a huge fan of Syrian Latakia, and this was after GL Pease lost his warehouse full. I was determined to have it around always. So over the course of that 1st year after introduction, I put away 100 tins. Other big purchases include 30 tins of...

McClellan’s Virginia #27 in a Radice Rind twin-bore. This was always my favorite McClelland blend.
