List Your Other Hobbies / Interests

    Yeah,....no stache,.....but it's cool. More like a "late-life-crisis" Lawrence! Uncle Arthur, I've got a '69 Chevy shortbed stepside I could restore...but I think I'm gonna dig around for a '32 Ford coupe or something....maybe a "T".

List Your Other Hobbies / Interests

I gotta bad feeling I've made an awful mistake here. About ten years ago I got burned out on building cars. A few weeks ago I was sittin' around bored and while flippin thru the channels I found an HD Theater special about Hot Rods...aka Rat Rods. BIG MISTAKE!! Got the old Rockabilly CDs out...

How Many Guitarists Do We Have Here?

Been playing since 1971,.....but a "guitarist"? Negative. Althought I have had the pleasure of knowing one or two over the years. Guys who could do fills in any key...in any genre while just sittin' around the backyard drinking beer. Amazing stuff.

    Freemasons and Other Fraternities

Thirty second is the last one,....there's a 33rd, but it's a gift given for service. And there is nothing that goes on in the lodge or anywhere else that hasn't been shared with the world. The secrets are all a tongue in cheek sorta thing. Fine organizations,....but just not for everyone.

Anybody Fly R/C Planes or Helicopters

Back then just hovering was like balancing a soft ball on top of a basketball. I think my last chopper was a "Cricket" if my memory serves me correctly. It's somewhere in the middle of the giant landfill in south Oklahoma City now. Along with a few planes and a golf club or two.

Anybody Fly R/C Planes or Helicopters

I flew 'em for years. Good time in my life, some the best friends I ever had I met while active in that hobby. Back then you flew helicopters by the seat of your pants! Oh the money I spent! :crying:

    How Many Times

Probably two. I tried when I was in my 20's but thought I looked like an idiot, and I was probably right. Same problem in my 30's. Now I'm old enough to look like I deserve to smoke a pipe. :D

    Pipe Smoking Craze?

    "Pipe smoking craze.",......sounds kinda funny. But then stranger things have crazed. Urban Cowboy line dancing. Cowboy hats covered in quail feathers. And these guys;

    The effects of oxidation

Vulcanite or Ebonite, (or car tires for that matter), are made of vulcanized rubber, which is...oversimplified, a combination of rubber and sulphur. Over time the relatively weak chemical bond holding the two together weakens, resulting in the loss of sulphur. Sulphur is yellow......hence the...

    Mad Men

Well, Jaybird,...."smoking" "non-smoking" sections weren't an option. I remember as youngsters none of us even noticed the smoke and certainly never complained about it. Kinda like central air-conditioning. Most of us couldn't imagine suffering through a hot steamy summer night without one...

    Mad Men

Mad Men's one of my favorite dramas. I've got all back episodes on DVD and can't wait for the next season. Contract disputes kept it off the air for a year, but it'll be back.

The Good Ole Days, When Tobacco Wasn't Evil

Funny thing, we had freedom back then...the only thing we were scared to death of...was the USSR. I mean after all,....it was a place where everyone worked to support the government.......and in return the government provided support for all the people. The only problem was.......the...
