I recommend a pipe with a vulcanite comfortable stem. Cobb pipes have harder stems that may irritate your mouth. While cobb pipes are light a medium sized briar pipe with a vulcanite stem may be more comfortable for you and may smoke better than a cobb.
I have a Sasieni Mayfair that I bought new about 25 years ago and while I have considerably better pipes the Sasieni has always been one of my five best smokers. As long as the Sasieni Mayfair could have been professionally cleaned I would pay up to $50 for another one.
I have tried many coffee blends, both from South America and Hawaii. The coffee that I like best since it is robust and dark is Peet's coffee Major Dickason blend which is one their big blends. There are several Peet's coffee stores in California and many airports in Texas as well as other...
Squadron Leader is not for everyone, especially if want a strong, high latakia blend which this blend is not. However, if you want a very tasty, easy to lite tobacco that has very tasty Virginia and great oriental tobacco and light on latakia then Squadron Leader is not the tobacco for you. I...
I would use any size pipe that I have dedicated to Virginias. Some of these pipes that I smoke Virginia in our quite large pots. I have never understood having different size pipes for different tobaccos. I do understand, however, why you would want a smaller pipe for high vitamin N.
I picked up a Bari lovat on Ebay about two years ago and it really smokes well. My understanding is that Bari's are no longer being produced. Is that your understanding that they longer produce Bari's.
It all depends on what tobacco you are having trouble keep lit. I smoke a lot of McClelland's flake or cake Virginias which are tough to are a bear to keep lit. For flakes I use the tearing method whereby I peal each flake into smaller pieces and then tear these pieces and stuff into my pipes...
I also use Everclear. I used to use 91% iso, however, even though they are about the same percent alchohol content the Everclear seems to work better. I also finish with Wild Turkey to give the pipes a sweet smell.
All of the above suggestion are very sound advice. Assuming that you get the stinger or draft hole bored out try two other suggestions. One, consider smoking so other tobacco. Captain Black even on the dry side will smoke considerable more moist then a non-aromatic. Finally, try loading your...
I would not store tobacco in the garage. However, if you must, use a cooler, since they are well insulated against the cold and the heat. Rick Newcome stores his tobacco in a cooler, however, his cooler is in the closet in his house.
I have tried them all. I also have comparison shopped online for tobacco tins and always smokingpipes.com is the least expensive. Try it yourself! Finally, smokingpipes.com has the largest selection of tobacco, new pipes and estate pipes. Iwan Reis in Chicago is expensive, however, they also...
Usually, bamboo shanked pipes are very long. These bamboo shanked pipes are to long for me since they are often seven inches in length or longer. Another alternative is to get a briar simulated bamboo. I have a wonderful smoking Radice that has a beautiful about and inch and a half simulated...
I would commit your tinned flakes directly into a jar directly from the tin. Further, if you want to rub out your flakes do it when loading each pipes. If you rub out your flakes before you commit to the jar the tobacco will dry out too much. The two methods that you usually hear about are hand...
You are completely normal since most of us have been where you are now. The problem is that this urge to buy pipes and tobacco may last for 25+ years. Welcome to our wonderful world.
I would recommend Dan Tobacco's Hamborger Veermaster. This tobacco is a tasty Virginia that is mild yet not too light. A great all day smoke that is easy to rub out.
