By Request, The Restoration Of My Masterson Freehand.

Thanks! Our city has a large cultural festival, and many countries set up pavilions around town, showcasing their culture, food and drink. I spent a very good night with many friends in the Slovakian pavilion. The first round of slivovitz was rough, by the third we were hooked. :)

By Request, The Restoration Of My Masterson Freehand.

Nice job! I too acquired a beat up dirty Mastersen. It took a soak in oxyclean, a few hours of elbow grease with a cloth & wax, a dozen pipe cleaners and the sacrifice of some Slivovitz to bring it back to life. Well worth it though, a gorgeous pipe that is super light but packs an hour's worth...

    Sudden attack of PAD...

...Wallet in critical condition, but will recover. :-) I'm leaving for a camping trip after the weekend, so I decided to pick up a MM cob from the local B&M...all the other "smoke" shops carry the ubiquitous off-shore knock offs that I didn't really trust. Of course, staring at their wall of...

Girlfriend's latest project - a leather pipe & tobacco pouch for me!

@Bigmike - That's certainly the plan! :) @ejames - Yes. The buck I got this fall had a broken antler, so they weren't really a good set for mounting, etc. So we used a hacksaw to cut off button sized pieces and a bowdrill to make the button holes. The big one is taken from the base of the...

    Bavarian Tobacco Sniffing Contest

Well, I've been using the 'net since 1993 and it still presents me with things that force me to utter, "WTF?". Good job!

Girlfriend's latest project - a leather pipe & tobacco pouch for me!

The outer shell is pig leather. The antler buttons are home made, this one is from the base of the anter. We used a hacksaw and a hand bow-drill to make the buttons. Loaded with tobacco, tools and 2 pipes it still fits in my cargo shorts comfortably. The goal was to use up scrap leather and...

    Camping Question

Thank you for all the advice, gentlemen. I'll bring along a couple of my sturdier pipes and see what the local B&M carries for cobs when I visit them on Friday...it'd make sense to carry them to the festival site and leave the better ones back at camp.

    Camping Question

Next week, I'll be spending a week camping at a folk music festival. I'm bringing my pipe smoking gear, but I did have a question about pipes. Chances are that I'll be smoking a few bowls a day around the campfire. How many pipes should I bring? Just one and smoke smoke smoke? A couple to...

What Are You Smoking? June 2012

In my Mastersen no.29 bent my local B&M's "Wolseley" blend - "rich with Toasted Cavendish, deep with Burley’s nut-like flavour, and brightened with just enough golden Virginia. It is mild and delightfully aromatic."
