Have You Tried Mixing Different Blends?

I've mixed CAO Bella Vanilla with Amphora "Full Aroma" (red pouch) and was pleased by the result. They have a similar cut so that may be a factor.

Dedicated Hunting Thread - Pictures & Discussion

Nice buck, lonestar! I'm sitting this season out. I've still got plenty in the freezer and the area where we hunt has a 1 tag for ALL seasons (archery, blackpowder, rifle) which means the surveyed deer population is low. So I figured I should givem a rest so there will be plenty for everyone!

    Grand Forks, ND Tobaconist?

I'll be visiting this little town in early December and I thought I'd take advantage of the cheaper tobacco available in the USA. This site's retailer listing, google and Grand Forks' business directory didn't turn up anything beyond drug stores and head shops. Are there any pipers in Grand...

    My new Savinelli

Thanks guys! @undecagon - Filter. I'll probably get an adapter, but we'll see how it smokes! @ejames - Ah! Thanks...today I learned :) I always thought it was the style, not the material; thanks for clearing that up!

    My new Savinelli

My first Savinelli. Also, my first new, un-smoked briar pipe! The cumberland stem on this thing is gorgeous. It's light, but still feels substantial, and the drill hole looks clean and centered. I think it's going to be a great smoker. Edit: It's a "La Pipa 2007"

    Brothers of the Beard

I've had a beard since I was 20. There are a large number of people in my life who have never seen me without it! It's also great sunscreen during the summer and a handy scarf for winter. :)

    Anyone Try These McClelland Reissues?

I took Old Dog on a few camping trips this summer & fall. I quite enjoyed it.

What are You Smoking? October, 2012

Jack Lee Blends' Halfling's Leaf in my clay pipe.

    Late Bloomer

I started at 36. I have the occasional cigar or cigarello while out with friends or camping. I decided that pipes where better and jumped in. I'm lucky if I get more than 1 smoke a week, but that's ok with me; I've enjoyed every one! But I did get some pretty significant eye rolls when I broke...

What are You Smoking? October, 2012

3 Oaks Syrian in my Dr. Grabow Duke. I had the day off so I've taken advantage of that and the fall weather to enjoy 2 pipes will out on walks. The Duke has a nice small bowl for a leisurely 30-40 minute stroll.

    Clay

I've smoked two clays. One my father owns, he bought it for the historical re-enacting he does. Little did I know it was about 100 years old. We had a bit of a laugh over that! The other I bought while on vacation. Our hotel unexpectedly upgraded our room, including a walk out balcony, so I...

Dedicated Hunting Thread - Pictures & Discussion

'Tis the season and the weekend...bumping in hope of more stories & pics. Here's one. This time of year is right in the middle of Upland Bird (Grouse, Partridge, Ptarmigan) season. The first Monday in October is Thanksgiving in Canada. For quite a few years, I'd go out with my folks on...

    The After Midnight Club

02:16 here, and it's me, crk69, matchstickman, tjameson, lonestar, and ovidsmuse. About a week ago, baronsamedi posted a GWAR video. I thought you'd get a kick out this one: GWAR covering "Wayward Son" by Kansas

    Stanley Thermos

What did you do to p*ss off the coffee? haha, i keed, i keed. When I worked in an office, I used an REI brand thermos too, double wall vacuum sealed stainless and it was fantastic. I had an old stanley in my university days, but the glass interior didn't survive a car accident, and the...

    Shawn622 Best Brown Flake

And yet another reason this forum is awesome. Really...you guys are awesome, friendly, and passionate about pipes. A rare thing in this world, let alone an internet community. Once Shawn622 gets past the testing and tasting phase, I look forward to throwing some money his way :D

    Web Photo Hosting?

I have my own webserver and use Gallery to manage my photo collection. For quick image shares, I use imgur.com. However, if you want more than 225 images or images that are over 1mb in size, you'll have to go with their "pro" account option at $23.95/year. Picasa may be your best bet; it's part...

    Happy Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend !!

Well...it's not unheard of to get a snow storm this early, but it's pretty rare. The whacky thing is that it was 30C(86F) on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Then BAM! Snow! But it's not going to stay so it's hard to be anything but bewildered and bemused. The snow shovels don't have to come out...

How To Make A Perique. Hahahah You Must See This!!!!

Now I do remember reading a discussion on the origin of word "perique". One of the theories circles around just such a tobacco process. Sailors would buy the harvested leaf, but it would dry out or rot before they got to their destination, so crude methods of aging were used. Sailors being...
