    Plugs and ropes

I've got about 3.5oz of Gawith Hoggarth's Rum Twist rope. From the description: It needs some dry time, and it does bring a nicotine punch to the party, especially if you're not all that well acquainted with vitamin n :) That being said, I find it quite a nice smoke that requires some babying...

Either Thanksgiving arrived late, or Christmas came early...

Ha! That's perfect. I think they're great knives, I often recommend them. When I was a kid, I lost the No.6 - it lived on top of a barrel for two years exposed to the elements. My dad showed my how to clean the blade and restore the handle; the smallest amount of TLC was all it took to bring...

Either Thanksgiving arrived late, or Christmas came early...

...but man, happy holidays to me. I plan on jarring the Stonehaven, keeping the two C&D tins at the back of a closet for 10 years, and smoking the crap out of that Latakia Flake. The Opinel knife is a new No.8 carbon steel. I've had a No.6 since I was 13 (26 years ago? Man, I'm getting old)...

    It's been awhile - TAD

I'm looking forward to the camping trip, despite the unseasonable cold; my pipes shall keep me warm :-) Thanks murf, I intend to check on the tin seal every couple of months!

Canada: Manitoba Introduces Bill To Ban All Flavored Tobacco

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but... The laws that already on the books in this province prohibit sales and provision of tobacco to minors. Tobacco products must be screened from view at retailers, with the exception of businesses which prohibit minors (bars, tobacconists). Half that...

Any Great B&M Stores Near S/A or Austin?

Mike, from what I could tell it was all house blends...I did not see any rope tobaccos in the jars.

Any Great B&M Stores Near S/A or Austin?

San Marcos' Hill Country Humidor was worth the trip! A nice selection of bulks, a few tins and a very friendly, welcoming atmosphere. There were a couple guitar players trading songs in the lounge...the feel of the entire place was "Welcome, now relax." On TopD's recommendation, I picked up a...

    Pipe Museums?

Racine & Laramie in San Diego's Old Town has a few display cases filled with museum quality briars and meers. Worth checking out if you're in the area, and they have a pretty solid selection of tobacco too!

Any Great B&M Stores Near S/A or Austin?

I'll be in San Antonio next week, and will have a rental car for one day. I've convinced my wife to take a trip out to San Marcos to visit the Hill Country Humidor. In San Antonio itself, it looks like there's three places: Club Humidor: email from their Menger Hotel location states they carry...

Muddy Waters Pipe Club (Winnipeg, Canada)

@Andrew - Awesome. I'll post any updates on a meetup here as well. The details of a meetup haven't been determined, but probably will wait until it's warm enough to enjoy a pipe outdoors! :) @bluesmoke - The name Winnipeg is a transcription of the western Cree word wi-nipe-k meaning "muddy...

Muddy Waters Pipe Club (Winnipeg, Canada)

Hello fellow pipers! The Muddy Waters Pipe Club has been started up. While not the founding member of the club, he has ask that the word be spread to all Winnipeg pipers, or any who will pass through our fine city. The club is in it's infancy with 4 current members, and a meetup in the works...

Dr. Plumb 233 Estate Before & After

Another gift from a family member, so another restoration. This one has more than a few problems, so I would have passed on it. However, being a gift from my youngest sister, how could I leave it to rot? It had large fills on the side of the bowl, a fair amount of the rim was burned down, the...

    Brigham Estate Restoration (14 pictures)

After the pipe soaked in the oxyclean, I used a magic eraser. Once the oxidation was off (the sponge came up clean) I added a drop of Murphy's oil soap and gently scrubbed the entire pipe with the magic eraser. The micromesh are just sanding pads, I kept the stem and the pads wet, then used the...

    Brigham Estate Restoration (14 pictures)

@rockymtnsmoker - Google image search shows that it is, thanks! @ocpsdan - Ha! I'm in the midst of a Canadian prairie winter. I doubt I'll be able to smoke anything before April.

    Brigham Estate Restoration (14 pictures)

Thanks Greg! I had scrubbed the mortise/shank with a booze soaked q-tip and they were coming out clean. The old Brigham pipes have an aluminum tenon, so they're pretty tough. I used the micromesh pads to just remove enough for the stem to go in without me pushing as hard as I can. It's still...
