    More restrictions in Manitoba

New legislation will would ban the supply of tobacco in pharmacies, health-care facilities, and vending machines. Bear in mind that currently any tobacco vending machine MUST be in an 18+ establishment, and all tobacco is covered or locked up from any display. Just silly.

    Creating the brotherhood

HA! The pipes, Philip, the pipes. We were already well dunked

    Creating the brotherhood

That's cool, Cajunguy. Like most places in North America, you can no longer smoke in the bars here. But, instead of snapping off the ends of the guest pipes, they get a dunk in some tasty 80 proof.

    Creating the brotherhood

Some background: The Social On the Canadian Prairies, there's a phenomenon called "The Social". It's a big party thrown in a local community hall, where there is cheap booze, good music, prize draws, silent auctions and at 11pm, cheese and meats are put out. The whole idea is to raise money for...

    Show Us Your Tobacco Stash

I'm just a couple months into the hobby, so this should continue to grow. I do have to keep the stash under 1kg (2.2lbs), as local laws insist that having more means I'm attempting to sell it and avoid taxation. Click to enlarge.

    estate pipe/ weird taste question

Thanks for the tip, nsfisher. I was amazed at how dirty those q-tips came out on the first run. Yikes!

    Other pipe communities online?

I'm a redditor, and they have a pretty active pipe & pipe tobacco subreddit. They do love Night Cap and Squadron Leader. I found this forum through google, liked what I saw and joined!

    Gotta Love the Government!

Bubblehead33, you can order 200grams of tobacco (1 unit) from online retailers and avoid paying duty & taxes. Be careful though...for example, in Manitoba if you have more than 1kg (5 units) you may be charged with intent to sell. Research your province's tobacco act, should be easy to find with...

    McClelland's Tudor Castle

This is my first flake tobacco, and it's a broken flake. I used the "Cutting into Cubes" method as demonstrated here. The tobacco was very moist, almost sticky. After I cut it, I let it dry for a couple of hours. It was the easiest pipe load so far; I just dumped in the cut and let gravity...

Red Rapparee was interesting. It wasn't sweet at all, but had a lot smells and flavours going on. A predominant musky wood taste and smell that really worked...like cedar or sandalwood. It also left my pipe smelling fantastic when I was done.

@bubblehead33 - Winnipeg, MB @maineyachtie - I really have enjoyed it. Subtle, yet complex; I found there to be a lot going on from spicy to sweet with some incense like smells. It burned really well, and stayed pretty cool. Right now I have to say that Wilderness has been my favorite, but I...

@bigvan Well, thank you. :-) I thought I'd give it a try, and if I didn't like it I'd keep it around for guest smokers, or for use around the firepit to limit the number of offended noses. @group4 I'm in Canada, so I was able to get it OTC at the local supermarket. I know this is likely...

Thanks guys! I owe a lot of my choices to this site and its forums. I'll add some 1Q to the list for a September purchase, my girlfriend has asked I wait that long before acquiring anymore, and it's a fair request. :) The Mississippi River is only down one bowl, it just had a HUGE bag sticker...

On February 13th, I got my first pipe. I picked up some tobacco the next day and haven't look back! A couple orders from http://pipesandcigars.com/, an ebay estate, a flea market estate and a vintage 1959 humidor (with a bonus of 3 dr grabows and 1 medico estate) came next. Halfling's Leaf was...
