The Maiden Voyage of my Rossi 8622

I was t Nice pipe! Of the Vittoria line I also considered the 8670, but I wanted a slightly larger bowl and an acrylic stem.

    Weekend Smoking Quandary...

Observing advice of local health officials to stay at home this weekend, I have acquired three new to me tobaccos for in home entertainment. The weather is not brilliant yet, so I probably will only get one or two in. Any suggestions on number 1, 2 and 3?

    Squadron Leader vs. ?

Thanks everyone. Definitely Skiff Mixture, Presbyterian, Westminster and Nightcap are on my shortlist. My Mixture 965 sounds good too.

Pipes on Your Wishlist & Pipes on Your Dreamlist.

My next pipe I think I would like to try a Peterson System of some type. Maybe a 312, but I have not decided.

The Maiden Voyage of my Rossi 8622

This is my recent pipe purchase, a Rossi 8622. I wanted a pipe with a bit wider chamber than what I currently own for flakes. This being my second briar, I wanted something with a bent stem and I also fancied a rusticated finish. So off to the garden I went to smoke it for the first time...

    Avoiding The Charring Light

I found this to be true, sometimes I am off to the races without a charing light. It depends on the conditions, the tobacco, etc. The consistent exception would for me would be flake tobaccos which can take a bit of persuasion to get going.

    LUNTING?

These references to the breath method inspired me to review my technique with some YouTube videos and I just had one of my best pipes ever. It pays to revisit the fundamentals!

    Squadron Leader vs. ?

I cracked open my first tin of Squadron Leader as I explore further the English category. Nice smoke! I am looking forward to a few more bowls. I don’t smoke a lot so I need to be very selective, so I would appreciate any suggestions of your favorite blends to compare against. On my short list...

    Your Favorite Blends to Age

+1 on Luxury Bullseye Flake, FVF, Orlik Golden Sliced and new to me, I'm going to guess Cask 4.

    LUNTING?

Last weekend I worked outside spring cleaning leaves, washing windows, etc while smoking some Carter Hall in a cob and it just does not work for me. Lunting or yard work, I prefer to stop when smoking my pipe. In fact, most of the time I don’t even want to read a book either!

Longest Break You've Taken from the Pipe

Started last May, so I have been smoking as long as the breaks of others! My longest break so far, 2 1/2 weeks due to business travel.

I'm a Noobie and I Need Help with Tongue Bite! Please!

I’ve been smoking a pipe for nine months and still have problems from time to time. For me it comes down to packing dry tobacco carefully - lighting gently - smoking slowly. I am convinced most burn or bite for me comes from moisture and hot relights, but there are other contributing factors...

***What Are You Smoking? March 2020***

Kicked off March with a bowl of Bullseye Flake in a cob. In spite of the crummy weather, it was one of the nicest smokes I have had in a while.

What/Who Influenced You to Start Pipe Smoking?

I will readily admit I have a bias, but IMHO it can’t get much better than a day out fishing and smoking a pipe! Great to hear your story.

What Is Your Fav Bulk Non-Lat or VaPer blends?

Luxury Bullseye Flake is my favourite bulk at the moment. I'm about to try Camoy's Cask 4 though, so we will see if LBF will stay number 1. I do very much like Orlik Golden Sliced as well.
