    Drinking While Smoking

That’s what I read. I usually go for hot or cold non alcoholic beverage. But on occasion pairing a wee dram of 12 year old single malt with an aged VaPer sure is nice! :sher:

Frog Morton Cellar - Damn You to H#*L

It is a shame they ceased production. As a new pipe smoker I have heard over and over how amazing and legendary Frog Morton was. Alas, I was too late to the party! ☹

Frog Morton Cellar - Damn You to H#*L

SG and Germain‘s are becoming a focal point of exploration for me.

When Do You Smoke Your Pipe?

Really good point! I had a friend who would smoke a pip when we got together and he said one of the benefits is that he would talk less and listen more! I need to remember that!

Can You Help Me Identify This Pipe?

Thanks! I think it is. It or one like it, is on my shortlist for ‘pipe next’.

Can You Help Me Identify This Pipe?

I think that is a very close match. The finish in the photo looks a bit more of a matt finish and not so glossy, but the silver band is right. I am thinking I need a pipe like this at some point! Thanks!

    Carter Hall (A Review)

Thanks for the encouragement. On reflection, I slipped up in the review and wished I could go back and edit it. I wrote one of the final sentences from a personal set of circumstances and it does not come across very inclusive of other situations, particularly to our female smokers who are in...

    Carter Hall (A Review)

What could a relatively new pipe smoker add to the reviews about Carter Hall that has not been already written? Also, do I dare write a review for such a cliché tobacco? The good thing about being new, is that you don't know enough to stay out of trouble, so here we go...! ? The main thing I...

Long-Winded Questions About Smoking a Pipe

Have you taken the stem apart to see if there are any obstructions either way? (I.e. a stuck filter)

    First Pipe Tobacco Order

I am a big fan of Carter Hall to work on technique. My first tobacco was an aromatic, Lane BCA, and was a real challenge to learn to pack and keep lit.

What's Your First Pipe Purchase of the New Year?

Post #100 in this thread! Nothing fancy - as a new pipe smoker I am still trying to figure out what I like in pipes and may start digging around for estates, but in the meantime I liked the bent stem and rusticated finish of this Rossi 8622. I’ll post a review when it arrives.

    Piping Pet Peeves

A couple of pet peeves... As said earlier in this thread, wind. Wind has a huge impact on whether I can smoke or not and lately we have had a lot of it! Nothing I can do about it other than develop more places to smoke out of the wind! I also wished there was not such a social stigma about...

    Effect Of A Good Lighter

I got fed up with the wind blowing for a number of days yesterday and decided to smoke regardless. I used my oldest cob as I know it is invariable that I will scorch the rim a bit. Even if I had not used a cob, I have come to the point of view that if I keep my briars in such beautiful...

    Effect Of A Good Lighter

Great thread. It prompts me to think about getting a better lighter at some stage..! I'll have to start educating my wife now why this would be a great addition to my 'cheap' hobby! ?
