Why do You Smoke a Pipe?

I started it because I came across some videos with pipe smokers, and during the lockdowns I decided to buy my first pipe. Now I own two and to be honest, although I get the urge to have this smokey taste in my mouth and I substitute a pipe for cigarettes or cigars, it's not the same. I prefer...

    About Filters

I don't know if the majority of you smokes with a filter or not. I own two pipes both of them with the classic charcoal filters. Do you guys swap the filters after each smoke or keep them for a second or even third? Also, has anyone out there used a pipe that has a filter without it?

    Chipped Chamber Wall

Title changed. Caps for all important words, please. (Rule 9) Is a chipped chamber wall bad? It's not a hole it seems just like a tiny piece of the chamber's colour has chopped of. Can I fix it somehow? It will fix itself when you smoke it. Just a bit of coating has come off.

    Too Tight Packing

The importance of a perfect pack has been discussed many times, but what happens and what do you do when you've packed a bowl tighter and lit it? Obviously, you have burnt some of the tobacco and you can't go all from scratch. Is there any technique to "save" the pack and still go on to smoke it...

    Preventing Hot Smoke

As a matter of fact the best taste is when the pipe is almost out and I blow out a glimpse of smoke it is the best taste of the whole bowl

    Preventing Hot Smoke

Quick question, in order to prevent a hot bowl, is it better to dry your tobacco? As far as I understand if you dry your tobacco it doesn't burn hot and it stays lit longer am I right?

What Turned You on to Pipes?

Used to smoke some years before, but earlier this year I saw videos of people smoking pipes and it seemed so satisfying to me that I went to buy one myself.

    General Beginner Tips

Thank you for your detailed reply sir! I've found out that the taste of the aromatics isn't something that excites me, so to be more precise on what I meant is that I want a blend that is smokier tasting. I think this is more important for me. Another question, is any of the Peterson blends good...

    General Beginner Tips

I think that I'm around my second month of pipe smoking and thus far it is a very delightful experience for me and I'm coming across some questions. 1. How do you guys store your tobacco? Do you have more than one blend ready to smoke? For now I'm storing mine in their pouches. 2. Should...

    Alcohol Treatment

Yeap, my fault. I mean the chamber. So, nothing to worry about?

    Alcohol Treatment

The bowl seems brownish now instead of black that it was at first. Will this be doing any damage?

    Alcohol Treatment

Guys, doesn't the alcohol treatment ruin the inside of the bowl? Or amy discoloration? Is this bad for the smokes?

    Sour Taste

So, quick update for all of you who replied. After a thorough cleaning of the pipe (only with water, no alcohol) the pipe seems more fine. Still the tobacco has a kind of weird taste, I'll be giving the pipe another round of cleaning this time with alcohol.

    Sour Taste

Can you share some advice with me? Leaving the stem perhaps in water?

    Sour Taste

So, I recently changed my tobacco and I noticed every draw has a sour taste. It leaves a bad taste on my tongue at first and it fells funny/sour. Now I've smoked Mac Baren Classic until last week and I bought Skandinavik Sungold. I don't know if this is due to the tobacco or if my pipe needs a...

    Relighting

So... Thus far I've experienced everything a newbie has to come across. And I definitely think that pipe smoking is something really really worth starting up! So I'm really happy with it! But the biggest trouble is relighting. I don't know if this has to do with my packing, but I'm using like...
