    Wilford Brimley

The Carnivore Diet “cures” type2 and helps immensely with type 1. Check out the emerging science on this diet and be extremely wary of vegan and Big Ag and Big Pharma propaganda. All the best to you

Wall of Shame - Seller's Remorse

I don’t sell the pipes I’ve lost interest in. I just give them to others on this forum. The pipes are more likely to survive and be appreciated into the future. Pass ‘em around, gents.

What Are You Listening To? - June, 2025

I’m currently trying to recoup my embouchure after a 50 year layoff. Hard work, but your post gives me inspiration. Thanks!

    VaPer bite ?

Most of my LNF is 4 to 5 years old. This blend doesn’t bite my tongue at all, but then again, neither does Bayou Morning (25% perique!). Yes, cube cut it and pack loosely and keep it barely smoldering.

    Comparing Virginia Flakes

C&D’s Derringer is a broken flake. Aging for a few years is required for best flavor. Available in bulk. A VERY overlooked Virginia that contains dark to bright leaf. Get some!

Returning Trumpet Player After 55 Years

A month or so ago I decided to return to one of my first loves: the Bb trumpet. I started in 3rd grade and played into college. I never had any real lessons, just the band director making sure we could play the repertoire. Having grown up a few miles east of Manhattan I was able to hear some of...

What Are You Listening To - March, 2025

I spent my youth hanging around Max Gordon’s Village Vanguard and many other jazz venues and for my mind the most exciting big bands were Buddy Rich, Don Ellis, and Thad Jones/Mel Lewis. I cut lawns to get my cover charge and complimentary soft drink. The cocktail waitresses wisely ignored me...

    Show Us Your Falcons!

Be aware that the meerschaum insert in the bowl creates a very small chamber. Falcon seems to use their standard chambered bowls and add the meer so the chambers are quite small. My blasted apple bowl with insert is huge with a tiny chamber!

***What Are You Smoking, February 2025?***

Beautiful! E A Carey pipes are very underrated. NOT a filter pipe. Smoke comes through directly and the little vents in the stem add a cooling and drying affect that leaves the moisture captured in the papyrate sleeve. Enjoy!

***What Are You Smoking, February 2025?***

Breaking in a new pipe with C&D Three Friars/Derringer (50/50). This Peterson Tyrone 84 is small and light and has my preferred acrylic stem. The button is smaller and more comfortable than some of the newer acrylics that come on the Standard System pipes. Modest sized chamber and lovely dark...
