There you go again with false dichotomy bullshit. Recognizing that a pipe company made a decent percentage of excellent specimens once upon a time does not make me---or anyone---a fanatic.

How about Emotionally Invested Enthusiast?

Your Droll Contrarian routine is getting really old.

George, none of us are getting any younger.

Enjoy the new toy, Embers. I used to have one of those Taurus Glock clones (I think that’s what it was?) at my house when my father-in-law lived with me.

I don’t know too much about gun models and such but I have a rifle and a small (like super small) Smith & Wesson .380.

I should get out shooting more for sure. I haven’t been in a few years.

Brazilian-made firearms (along with anything not made in the US, Belgium, Austria, Italy, or Germany) have always mystified me.

As in, it's difficult to imagine a device where the importance of excellent design and execution could be more important.

So why do people even consider them, never mind buy them? To save money?

The old joke that "nothing is more useless than an unloaded weapon when it is needed" comes to mind. Replace unloaded with "doesn't function," "breaks," or "is inaccurate when it does work" and it's the same joke.

Buy the best and cry only once.
I own quite a few firearms from countries other than the ones you covet. Poland, the former Czechoslavia, Russia, USSR, Finland to name a few. All 100% reliable. The most reliable, accurate (and cheap) 1911esque pistol that I’ve ever had is an Argentine Ballester-Molina.

I notice Brazil is not on your list.

Been there, seen it up close. That outfit lets only one thing influence its decision making: the excellence of its output.

If I was younger I'd move to Big Timber in a second and hit 'em up for a job. (Once upon a time I was far more into---and better at---shooting, gun smithing, & etc. than anything I've ever done with pipes.)
