Ember Size when Smoking Slowly?
Generally, when the ember is small you are leaving some unburnt tobacco on the sides of the chamber. I just put a pipe nail on the ember and puff a few times, thus making the draft pull at the edges of the tobacco. Simple and you don’t need to relight.- edger

Pipe Polishing: Needed?
I prefer a soft sheen. I use Howard Wax-It-All periodically on briar and vulcanite stems. This product is solid and comes in a small tub. It is a mixture of beeswax,carnauba, and mineral oil. If you use the warm water method to clean pipes, rubbing in some of this product after the pipe is dry...- edger

Flexible Falcon
I particularly love the Bantam bowls. I throw the stems in the dishwater to clean them. My oldest is from 1972. You can never sour the "heel" of these pipes and you can put them down at length when you are working. They generally don't get the respect they deserve. Get you a Falcon!! -
Refinishing Briar Pipe
