    Peterson Christmas Pipe Release

Man, the rustication/finish on these is...rough. Almost looks like little pits on a lot of the pipes, as well as discoloration/black areas. I know people like the copper bands, but these look almost brass in the photos (lighter colored copper?). Pretty cool they did a B5, though.

    Devil Anse Pipes?

I got a Baraccini Copper Ball (sandblast) for a "throw it in my travel pouch" pipe and it's great. There's a Devil Anse (sold out), but the ball and Rhodesian shapes are also basically the same style. Super cheap, too. Check 'em out...

Anyone Else Obsessed with Bent Rhodesians / Bulldogs?

Sort of. The Deerstalker/XL14 is my favorite Peterson pipe and have quite a lot of them. Pretty much any time a new version drops, I get one. That said, my second favorite manufacturer of such pipes is Il Ceppo; I have three of these and they are all jaw dropping great.

Samuel Gawith Drop is on at SmokingPipes

Some good stuff. More 1793 burnt ends, etc. I settled for some Cabbie’s; I have quite a lot of SG/GH in the cellar.

***What Are You Smoking, September 2025?***

New XL315 system—my first with a fiahtail. Smokes great with Chelsea Morning. Interesting rustication/colors; almost like a cross between standard rustication and the cobble style. Great pipe!

What Is With Petersons Using P-Lips For All Their New Releases?

I like the p-lip AND the fishtail stems--but I definitely prefer the acrylic stems on the system pipes over vulcanite. I just picked up an XL315 system with a fishtail and it smokes beautifully. Nice, big chamber, too.

    My Journey into Burley Blends

I've gotten into burley only recently myself. Being a mostly Oriental/English/Balkan fan, my first experiences with burley were not...good. As is regularly the case, the offending burley was Haunted Bookshop. Then I found H&H Classic Burley Kake and Watch City Waltham. Then both went away...

    DAMN!!! MOLDY G & H DARK PLUG

    Yes, a ribbon cut.

    DAMN!!! MOLDY G & H DARK PLUG

I just had a weird mold experience, too. I opened a tin of Germain’s Royal Jersey Cavendish and all was fine. I planned on smoking right through the tin—and it was a bit moist—so I didn’t bother jarring it up. A week into it I open it up to find gray mold lightly coating the surface. Never had...

    Show Off Your Petersons Here!

People Who Back Into Parking Spaces...

Agree 100%. Also, people are cool with waiting for you to back OUT of a spot because then they get it. Waiting for them to back in just holds you up for nothing.

People Who Back Into Parking Spaces...

Well, when someone drives completely past a parking spot to attempt a 170 degree turn in reverse, any car behind them will assume they didn’t want the spot and will pull in. That’s ignoring the fact it will hold up traffic even longer—and that I’ve, literally, never seen someone do such a thing.

People Who Back Into Parking Spaces...

How is it proper when you have to drive the wrong way up an aisle to even park in the slanted spots? The aisles are clearly marked for traffic in a single direction and people go the wrong way, driving head on towards the ones driving the correct way, and then hold up everyone so they can back...

People Who Back Into Parking Spaces...

Still not ok to me. They usually drive the wrong way up a parking aisle so they can back into slanted parking, clogging up the lane/traffic, and making everyone wait for them to finish before they can move. Usually right past a giant yellow arrow pointing traffic in the opposite direction...

    What’s Your Fave Dunhill Blend?

Yeah, I think they should consider bringing back Aperitif and Durbar. I believe I have one tin left of the latter. The current RY is still quite a nic hit, but quite tasty.

    What’s Your Fave Dunhill Blend?

This one of the few blends I never tried. I'll have to take your word for it.

    What’s Your Fave Dunhill Blend?

Yes, I know Peterson makes SOME of these blends now. That said…what Dunhill blend stands the test of time to you? My experience with these blends dates back to the late 80’s, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. But for me, two blends have stood the test of time: Nightcap and Royal Yacht...

Confusion on St. Bruno Ready Rubbed

See, I don’t get this at all. Been smoking Bruno for decades and they are exactly the same. Even the manufacturer says so. But people are constantly claiming broken/rr versions of flake tobacco are somehow different.

Latest Top Picks from GL Pease

I buy the big tins of Chelsea Morning and work my way through it daily. Big fan of Six Pence, Gaslight, Quiet Nights, and Abingdon, too.
