***What Are You Smoking, March 2025?***

Loving the KBV in the Sav 707KS. Wish Sav offered more models in this shape.

    What are You Reading Now?

I'm currently obsessed with Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. I've never read a book with such a light subject (magic in England during the Napoleonic wars) written in such a thorough and serious manner. Clark, the author, absolutely knocked this one out of the park with historical accuracy...

    Good Ole Pipe

When I turned 18 I started smoking a pipe (it was a tradition in my family going back to my great grandfather and maybe further), so I went to a local B&M, Tobacco Lane, and bought two pipes: one of the house (basket) Christmas pipes and a CAO meerschaum of a hand holding the bowl. That was in...

    Breakup Stories

I was in a metal/grunge band in the 90's--we had two albums released--and played/toured quite a bit. Girls were always around and I'm the type who always gets hung up on one. The problem is that the girls you meet playing in bars aren't the type you want as girlfriends... So lots of bizarre...

Farewell Sutliff Tobacco Company - Monday 3/4/25

They may be a BIT slower with shipping than SmokingPipes, but I've had great interactions with them. I purchased some MacB when the closures were announced, while they were doing a two pipe ashtray giveaway (had to spend a certain amount of $). One of the blends was backordered, so they...

    Favorite Borderline Aromatics?

C&D's John Marr and Granby Station are good ones for me. John Marr is very Va/Or with some vanilla and perique (a touch of Cavendish carries the vanilla, I believe). Granby Station is mostly Virginia with Cavendish, perique, and an apple brandy style topping. With both of these, I can taste...

Margate in the Rattray’s Dublin. Love these shape 14’s with the Eldritch Pipes stems.

    Show Off Your Petersons Here!

Wasn't going to get another 307, but the blast on this one is crazy good. Both sides, too, with the lovely red contrast stain. I still prefer the B42 for system pipes, but the 307 is coming in second methinks.

***What Are You Smoking, February 2025?***

HU Asmara in this red contrast blast 307 system by Peterson. Crazy nice blast on this one.

What Happened To Brebbia's Fat Bob?

I have a Fat Bob and a Sav 320EX; they are quite similar in looks and proportions (the Brebbia having a slightly larger chamber). I actually prefer the 320 in the hand.

Loving the Peterson Shape Releases--Which Shapes Do You Want to Return?

I was actually surprised that the 444 is about the size of a 106. Not large at all. I was expecting a larger pipe like my Merchant Service foursquare.

    Black House In Stock!!!

Sutliff/Russ actually confirmed it is yhe same blend. I’ve been smoking it for years and agree. Also, Sutliff Match OS is bulk White Knight.

***What Are You Smoking, February 2025?***

One of my favorite system pipes. Loving this B42 with some EMP.

Fired up Grandpa's Pipe For the First Time...

I grew up in a family of pipe smokers. My grandfather had a small pipe rack with a jar that he kept on a small table beside his La-Z-Boy. His tobacco of choice was Velvet, his pipes were an even mix of Dunhill and Grabow. When he passed away I got a couple large cans of Velvet, a Grabow...

    Black House In Stock!!!

SmokingPipes had the Sutliff Match 759 (the bulk version of this blend) last time I looked. Can get a pound for the price of a couple tins.

Loving the Peterson Shape Releases--Which Shapes Do You Want to Return?

The Charles Peterson pipe would be so nice with a sandblast. I'm seeing a lot of nice grain/blast on Petersons lately. Just yesterday I was pretty much forced to pick up this 307 because of how pretty it is. I'd dig a 308, but not gonna lie, I think I prefer the 307.

    A Plethora of 309s

I already grabbed a heritage finish, but I'd love to stumble on a sandblast with some great grain. Hoping this isn't going to be a "one and done" release of the 309 like they're doing with the 444.
