New Recruit, And How To Start Them Out.

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to introduce half a dozen or so to our world of briar and tobacco. Recently, I’ve had three new recruits. A former cigar guy, a vape guy, and a cig smoker. The cigar guy had previously dabbled in pipes, but had only tried one or two blends (aromatics). He also...

    Any Updates On Gawith Tobaccos?

The last thing I heard was that they were having some issues with the FDA or something, but planned to be shipping soon. That was months ago..... I got to try a few G&H blends today that I haven’t had before, and some were real winners. I actually trade my buddy out of his jar of Scotch Flake...

    Ardor “Old Briar” Pipes?

Anyone have any information on the “Old Briar” line of pipes from Ardor? I just bought one. All I could find wa a reference saying that it was a limited specialty line, but nothing as to when it was made , or how many. It’s a DR, so I figure it’s not a really early one, but not a recent...

    Where To Buy Tambolaka

A buddy of mine is really wanting to try it, and I wouldn’t mind trying it myself. Does anyone know of a reliable source?

    $1000+ Pipes

This is a thread I’ve wanted to post for several years now, just never got around to it. I greatly admire the skill and craftsmanship that goes into hand made, and even high end “factory” pipes. That being said, I don’t see the reason that any pipe, made by a living carver, should cost that...

Intricate Marco Cascia Violin Pipe And Kit On EBAY.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/273779144598 This is a great demonstration of his talent. I have a Cascia pipe, but it didn’t cost anywhere near what this one does, lol.

    Finally Got Myself An Eskimo!

After years of wanting one, I finally pulled the trigger on this one. It’s by Rusen Rusenov, and is an excellent example of the shape. I’ve also never really seen a sandblasted Eskimo, as they’re usually a canvas for showing of Birdseye grain. I don’t mind a smooth pipe at all, but my tastes...

What’s Your Favorite “Stress Relief” Smoke?

Work has been extremely stressful for the last year or so. When I get home in the mornings, and try to unwind, I tend to reach for certain tobaccos. In the past it was McClelland Blue Mountain, but seeing as how it is now in the unobtainium category, I’ve slacked off on it so as not to deplete...

Yellow Acrylic Stemmed Castello Sea Rock?

Can someone tell me if this is an original stem? I’ve seen Sea Rocks with colored stems, but usually a little more subdued than this one. The style of stem seems right for the stummel, but original? I’m no Castello expert, but I have my doubts.

Anyone Own a Rusen Rusenov Pipe?

I’ve always wanted an Eskimo shape, but never found one in my price range that I actually liked. I ran across this Rusi estate for a song and couldn’t pass it up. It looks to be very well made, and a classic representation of the shape. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with him and...

    My Slumbering PAD Has Awakened....

I haven’t bought a new pipe in 4 or 5 years, and have actually sold a few here and there. Yet, in the last month I’ve bought 4 and traded for one, and I have a Morta on the way from Italy.... I also have a sneaking suspicion that my wife has bought me one as a surprise.

    Favorite Pipe Brands And Shapes

My favorite overall brand has always been Peterson, and my favorite shape from them has always been the “03” and it’s big brother the “XL02”. (Hence “petes03”). I also like straight billiards of all sizes and makes. So what floats your boat where brand and shape are concerned?

Needed A New Pipe Stand, So.......

I whipped this up real quick when I got home from work this morning. Nothing fancy, but it’ll do. Blue wormwood, with a small piece of yellow pine square stock in the front.

    An Unplanned Purchase

So I took a buddy of mine, who’s just getting into pipes, to my local B&M today. He wanted to meet Melvin, the owner, and look for an ash tray and to browse around. I’ve not been in there in a few years, so I was very surprised when I saw the amount of tinned tobacco he had on hand. When I first...

About To Go On A Tasting Spree

Despite having an extensive selection of blends in my inventory, I’m about to add some more. With McClelland gone, I only have a handful of other “staples”. I’ve already got a couple of new ones in. SPC Wild Man (delicious) and Haunted Bookshop. All of these are new to me, so I’m hoping there’s...
