    Why are estate pipes ok?

I bought my first estate pipe from Barry Levin in the early 90s. I’ve bought many more since. I’m still in decent shape for a seasoned citizen (73 yrs.).

Inveterate pipe smoker, new to this peanut gallery…

Welcome! Anyone who likes pipes and firearms is a real mensch in my book.

    Why are some pipes “expensive”?

These are all reasonable responses. But as many have commented, it’s all supply and demand. It’s called a MARKET where the buyer and seller agree on a price, and what anyone “believes” a price should be is irrelevant.

    Proposed UK tobacco ban

How about the obesity problem? How about anyone born after 2008 cannot have a bmi higher than 25? That would save real money.

    British Pathé Archives

Fascinating, but the guy sticking all those unpurchased pipes in his mouth is a bit creepy. P.S. Don’t try this at a pipe show unless you have a lot of $$$.

What’s a Good 9mm Pipe- Vauen, Barling or Rattray?

I’m like you. Every time I see a 9mm reference, my brain immediately tracks to my Smith & Wesson, Taurus, and SigSauer.

How Hard is it to Burnout a Pipe?

Over 50 years of pipe smoking and well over 100 pipes in those years, I’ve experienced one burnout: a Charatan I bought from Barry Levin 30 + years ago. I was watching tv, smoking that pipe, and the outside of the bowl started glowing and soon developed a hole and burned right through. Barry...

    Red Virginia recommendations

I’m partial to Wessex Red Flake and Robert McConnell Red Flake. Not always easy to get, but it’s still around.

Jim's C&D We Three Kings Review.

This is good timing because I just happen to be smoking a bowl of the original from a few years back. It is quite pleasant and lightly sweet and aromatic. I don’t notice any great strength and I am particularly sensitive to high-test tobaccos. I’ll surely get some of the new product.

In Defense of Pint and Pipe

um, in the High Church, women (XX chromosomes) aren’t allowed at the altar. Just like the early church.

Malcolm is a real man. Ph.D. in Medieval literature and an ordained Anglican priest. And beer, whiskey, and pipes on the side.

    That Morning Smoke

I’m an outlier. My morning pipe is at 11:30 after I’ve been up and about since 5:30. 50+ years of smoking a pipe and I still can’t think about lighting one until then.

    Morning Blend Anyone?

I have been smoking the pipe since 1970. To this day I am a nicotine wimp and cannot even think about having a pipe until I have been up and about for six to seven hours. But I make up for it with three of four bowls during the rest of the day. The great benefit of being retired. My hat is...
