Inordinately Tight Stem: What To Do (in the long term)?

I've had some tight stem fits before, but none compared to my Savinelli Bacco 321 bent author. It's beyond just simple tightness--it's absurdly difficult to remove and reattach, and has always been that way since I got it less than a year ago brand new. I've used beeswax on the tenon like I've...

Anniversaries Approaching: Mac Baren & Savinelli

In thumbing through the new P&C catalog this morning, I can see that as 2026 draws near, likewise does Mac Baren's 200th year of existence, and Savinelli's 150th. Like many on here, I'm a very big fan of both, and there's no doubt in my mind that both companies will be releasing something...

RIP Jason David Frank (the Green Power Ranger)

Suicide at 49. Crazy. And this is coming from someone who is basically shocked by nothing anymore. A sad day for me and my fellow millennials, no matter which Power Ranger was your favorite.

    RIP Gallagher

    76. Our watermelons are all safe now.

Story Time w/Servant King, Part II: The Gifting Continues!

(See Part I of the story here) When my wife came back from the post office on Friday, there was a small box addressed to her business, from a good friend of ours. She runs a thrift store out in the SoCal desert, and knows that I smoke a pipe. She must've been thankful for the London Fog...

NHL Hockey Is Back! (2022-2023 Season)

The 2022-23 NHL season is only about a week away! Granted, the game is a far cry from what it was during my youth (epic fights, horrific goaltending, and no penalties to speak of, unless decapitation occurred), but I still love the sport, and probably always will...at least unless the AI...

    RIP Coolio

    59. I guess he's now in a gangster's gangsta's paradise, literally. What's with all these not-so-old people dying? Very weird.

    RIP Ramsey Lewis

    87. One of my favorite keyboardists. Will miss fancy Rhodes grooves such as: ...and fancy Wurlitzer grooves such as: RIP!

    RIP Jazz Organist Joey DeFrancesco

    51. Unbelievable. I mean, I know he was overweight, but hell, even Groove Holmes made it to 60! This is pretty shocking. One of my favorite B3 players in the jazz genre, for sure. RIP!

    320 vs. 321: A (re)Discussion

I'm going to be selling my primary English/Balkan pipe on here next week, a Savinelli Miele 611 KS Bent Dublin. I enjoy the look of the stem very much visually, but I'm just not into the Dublin shape so much. So as a result, I like the pipe, but I don't love it. Changing tastes perhaps. I have...

    GLP Sale @ SP

With all those 2 oz. tins at just shy of a sawbuck each, I do not anticipate letting this one pass. Going to beef up on Union Square and Windjammer at the very least. How crazy are you planning to go? ?

    Happy Birthday Larry David!

    B&Ms in Salt Lake City?

Going there in the later part of summer. Doesn't look like much in the way of tobacconists here, other than the Tinder Box in Murray. Anyone have anything to offer? Thanks!

    Stefano Santambrogio: A Lovely Gift

My wife and I spent this past weekend with a good friend in Orange County, a couple hours south of me. He and his wife are fans/supporters of our work in the field of Reichian orgonomy (one of the most obscure topics on the face of the planet), and he just so happens to be a cigar smoker. This...

    Your Go-To Virginia

In addition to enjoying barebones thread titles, I also enjoy a good VA blend, especially during warmer weather. I mean, who the hell wants to smoke Balkan Sasieni under the hot sun? That would drive me straight to the sanitarium, frankly (I know I'm setting myself up for some obnoxious retort...

    RIP Vangelis

    79. Really churned out some great film soundtracks, he did. I also really dug several tracks off my favorite Aphrodite's Child album, such as: Aphrodite's Child - The Four Horsemen (1972) I also walked by his house near the Acropolis when I was in Greece in early 2009. RIP!

RIP Liz Sheridan aka Mrs. Seinfeld

    93. Same age as Estelle Harris (Mrs. Costanza), and just two weeks after. Weird. RIP!

RIP Estelle Harris aka George Costanza's mother

93 ain't bad. Now her and Jerry Stiller can scream at each other in the afterlife. :ROFLMAO: RIP!

Story Time With Servant King: 50+ y.o. Medico

For the past couple of weeks, my wife and I have been working on clearing a patch of land adjacent to our little mountain cabin. The plot was absolutely crammed with junker cars/RVs, old wood, metal, and a myriad of other sundry items, all collecting dust and rust. In other words, basically the...

Pipe Rest Recommendations for an Oom-Paul

Title says it all. I have two standard pipe rests, neither of which adequately accommodate either the bulge of the shank or the extreme bend of the stem. Any advice would be helpful. Pipe is pictured below, a Savinelli Tortuga 614. Thanks!
